What they need

Microsoft Infrastructure & Automation Engineer

£60,000 | Fully Remote (UK) | Azure | PowerShell | Infrastructure as Code

Are you a Microsoft Infrastructure Engineer who enjoys designing, building and automating solutions rather than spending your day supporting existing systems?

We're working with an established UK managed services provider looking for an experienced engineer to help develop and improve its Microsoft technology services.

This is a predominantly project-focused role where you'll be designing, building and standardising solutions that can be deployed consistently across multiple customer environments.

The opportunity

You'll be joining an experienced engineering team responsible for developing Microsoft infrastructure and cloud solutions.

The focus is on creating reliable, secure and reusable solutions, improving automation and making it easier to deliver the same services to different customers without having to start from scratch each time.

Your work will include:

  • Designing and building Microsoft Azure infrastructure and cloud solutions.
  • Developing standardised, reusable infrastructure configurations for deployment across multiple customers.
  • Automating infrastructure provisioning and configuration using PowerShell, Terraform, Bicep or ARM.
  • Building and improving deployment processes and CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
  • Working across Microsoft technologies including Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Intune and Windows Server.
  • Improving existing services through automation, standardisation and technical development.
  • Working alongside architects and engineers to turn technical requirements into repeatable solutions.
  • Producing technical documentation and supporting the handover of newly developed services.

What we're looking for

We're particularly interested in engineers who have spent the last few years designing and building Microsoft infrastructure, ideally within an MSP, consultancy or technology services business.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • Strong hands-on Microsoft Azure infrastructure engineering experience.
  • A good understanding of wider Microsoft technologies including Windows Server, Entra ID, M365 and Intune.
  • Experience developing automated, repeatable infrastructure deployments.
  • PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
  • Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform, Bicep or ARM.
  • Exposure to Azure DevOps, Git and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience delivering infrastructure projects rather than working exclusively in BAU support.
  • An understanding of how technical solutions can be standardised and reused across different customer environments.

Experience working for an MSP or consultancy would be particularly interesting, especially if you've been involved in developing services or solutions that are delivered to multiple customers.

You might currently be working as a Microsoft Infrastructure Engineer, Infrastructure Automation Engineer, Microsoft Platform Engineer, Cloud Consultant or Microsoft Solutions Engineer .

Why consider it?

  • £60,000 salary.
  • Fully remote working across the UK.
  • Office visits no more than once every other month.
  • Predominantly project-based engineering rather than BAU support.
  • Opportunity to build and develop Microsoft solutions used across multiple customers.
  • Broad exposure to Azure, Microsoft infrastructure and automation.
  • Established business with an experienced engineering team.

If you're a Microsoft Infrastructure Engineer who enjoys building solutions, improving automation and finding better ways to deliver technology services, we'd be keen to have a conversation.
