Mid Level Java Engineer

We are recruiting for our office in Vilnius and are looking for our new team member to join us on January 4, 2027.

Tasks

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain integrations for our payment systems and local acquiring platforms.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code in collaboration with your team of engineers.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues. Participate in operational work when needed.
• Work with frameworks like Spring and Hibernate to build and maintain our systems.
• Contribute to performance enhancements and scalability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new features and solutions.
• Perform code reviews, design reviews, architecture reviews.
• Build business knowledge around the payment industry and Wallee specific products.
• Boost your productivity using available AI tools.

Requirements

Qualifications

We seek someone curious, eager to grow, and active in contributing to our team. You must have:

• At least 3 years of proven working experience in Java development.
• A Bachelor’s degree or Masters Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or relevant experience).
• Good knowledge of Java programming and object-oriented principles.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• A good knowledge of version control systems like Git.
• A good knowledge of build tools like Maven or Gradle.
• A good knowledge of Spring and JPA.
• A good understanding of REST APIs.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills in English (written and spoken).
• Serious, responsible and autonomous.
• Sociable and easy to work with.

Bonus points

While not required, the following skills and experiences would make you stand out:

• Knowledge of microservices architecture.
• Knowledge of DDD principles.
• Experience with front end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Typescript, React).
• Knowledge of containerisation tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with testing frameworks such as Playwright.
• Interest in secure coding practices and payment technologies.
