Middle School Special Education Teacher

Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School Special Education Teacher to join our charter school. In this role, you will design and implement tailored instructional strategies that meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities, including those with autism, developmental disabilities, and other learning challenges. Responsibilities

• Implement IEPs effectively, ensuring compliance with special education laws and regulations while tailoring instruction to individual learning styles.
• Manage classroom behavior proactively using evidence-based behavior management techniques suitable for students with disabilities.
• Collaborate with co-teachers, therapists, and support staff to create a cohesive learning environment that promotes student independence and social skills.
• Utilize learning technology and adaptive tools to enhance instructional delivery and accommodate various learning needs.
• Conduct ongoing assessments, including standardized testing and formative evaluations, to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Maintain detailed documentation of student performance, behavior incidents, and IEP implementation efforts in accordance with educational compliance standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Valid teaching certification/license for middle school special education in accordance with state requirements or ability to obtain provisional certification and pass GASE .
• Proven experience working with students with disabilities such as autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays, or behavioral challenges.
• Strong knowledge of special education law, IEP development, and educational compliance standards.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues, families, and external specialists.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles and developmental levels.
• Experience utilizing behavior management strategies and applied behavior analysis (ABA) techniques in classroom settings.
• Proficiency in lesson planning, curriculum development, proofreading (including adherence to style guides like Chicago Manual of Style), and literacy education.
• Familiarity with learning technology tools, standardized testing procedures, and educational software relevant to special education instruction.

Pay: From $38,000.00 per year
