What they need

We are seeking an experienced Oracle WebLogic Administrator with 3 to 7 years of hands-on experience in managing enterprise-scale Oracle WebLogic environments. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, patching, maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance tuning of Oracle WebLogic Server (12c/14c) and Oracle Fusion Middleware stacks. You will work closely with development, database, OS, and network teams to ensure high availability, security compliance, and seamless release deployments.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Installation, Configuration & Maintenance
  • Install, upgrade, and configure Oracle WebLogic Server (12c / 14c) domains, Administration Servers, Managed Servers, and Node Managers.
  • Setup, configure, and maintain WebLogic Clusters, load balancing mechanisms, and high-availability (HA) topologies.
  • Configure and administer integration components, including JDBC Data Sources (Multi-pool, GridLink), connection pools, and JMS (queues, topics, distributed destinations, stores).
  • Configure front-end web servers such as Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) or Apache, and configure WebLogic proxy plugins.
  1. Application Deployment & Automation
  • Deploy, configure, and manage enterprise Java artifacts (WAR, EAR, JAR, OSGi bundles) across staging, UAT, and production environments.
  • Automate routine operational tasks, deployments, domain configurations, and health checks using WLST (WebLogic Scripting Tool) and Python/Jython.
  • Write and maintain Shell scripts (Bash/Korn) for automation and log housekeeping.
  1. Patching, Upgrades & Security
  • Apply Oracle Critical Patch Updates (CPUs), One-off patches, PSUs, and service packs using Oracle OPatch.
  • Manage SSL/TLS certificates: generate CSRs, import identity/trust keystores (jks, kss), and manage certificate renewal cycles across WebLogic and OHS.
  • Configure WebLogic Security Realms, users, groups, and integration with enterprise identity stores (LDAP, Active Directory, Oracle IDM).
  1. Monitoring, Performance Tuning & Troubleshooting
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) on production incidents: analyze server logs, domain logs, and access logs.
  • Generate and analyze Thread Dumps (identifying deadlocks, stuck threads) and Heap Dumps (troubleshooting memory leaks, OutOfMemoryError).
  • Tune JVM parameters (Garbage Collection algorithms like G1GC, heap sizes, nursery sizes) and WebLogic work managers/execute queues.
  • Monitor infrastructure health and key metrics using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) or equivalent APM tools (Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Prometheus/Grafana).
  1. Operations & Disaster Recovery
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation to handle critical production issues within defined SLAs.
  • Execute backup and recovery strategies for WebLogic domains and configurations.
  • Participate in Disaster Recovery (DR) drills, failover/fallback testing, and routine maintenance windows.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: 3 to 7 years of dedicated experience in Oracle WebLogic Server administration in Linux/Unix production environments.
  • Core Technology Stack: Oracle WebLogic Server 12c/14c, Oracle HTTP Server (OHS), Sun/Oracle HotSpot JVM.
  • Automation: Proficiency in WLST, Python/Jython, and Linux Shell Scripting.
  • Operating Systems: Solid administration skills on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) / Oracle Linux (systemd, permissions, storage, network interfaces, cron, netstat, top/vmstat).
  • Database Interactivity: Basic Oracle DB troubleshooting (SQL*Plus, checking listeners, identifying JDBC connection locks/leaks).
  • Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
