What they need

Lead a dedicated maternity team delivering high-quality, woman and family-centred care across the Darling Downs region. As Midwifery Unit Manager, you'll shape service excellence, support workforce development, drive innovation, and create positive outcomes for women, babies and families while leading a culture of safety, collaboration and continuous improvement.

What your day could look like

As Midwifery Unit Manager, you'll help shape exceptional maternity care and create positive experiences for women, babies and families. By leading a skilled midwifery team, fostering innovation and strengthening service delivery, you'll play a key role in ensuring safe, high-quality care and supporting the future of maternity services across the region.

Every day, you'll contribute by:

  • Leading and inspiring a team to deliver safe, evidence-based and woman-centred maternity care.
  • Building strong partnerships that support coordinated care, informed choices and positive health outcomes.
  • Driving quality improvement initiatives that enhance clinical excellence, safety and service performance.
  • Developing workforce capability through mentoring, coaching and opportunities for professional growth.

Let's talk about you!

You're an experienced midwifery leader who combines clinical expertise with genuine care for people. You thrive in collaborative environments, bring confidence to complex decision-making, and know how to support teams to achieve their best. You're passionate about improving outcomes for women and families and take pride in creating a workplace where people feel valued, supported and empowered to grow.

Here's what will help you thrive in this role:

  • Registration, or eligibility for registration, as a Registered Midwife.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within maternity or midwifery services.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical governance, quality improvement and contemporary midwifery practice.
  • Excellent communication, team engagement and change leadership skills.

You'll stand out from the crowd if you have postgraduate qualifications in Midwifery, Health Administration or Management and/or experience leading service improvements in complex healthcare settings.

Above all, you'll bring Compassion, Integrity, Dignity, Innovation and Courage while helping deliver outstanding care for the communities we serve.
