Prime Manufacturing is a high-precision aerospace and industrial component manufacturer located in Wilsonville, Oregon. We specialize in manufacturing complex parts for the aerospace, defense, and semiconductor industries.

Our shop has modern 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC machining centers, including Doosan, Makino, and Heller machines. We operate an automated Makino pallet cell system and are expanding our Heller 5-axis machine with a new 12-pallet automation system.

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced CNC Mill Setup Machinist / Programmer to join our team.

This position is responsible for programming and setting up CNC mills for prototype and low-to-mid volume production. We need someone who can take a job from start to finish, including programming, tooling selection, machine setup, troubleshooting, and producing good parts.

A big part of this position is working in an automated pallet cell environment. You must be comfortable managing multiple jobs at different stages of production, switching between tasks throughout the day, and keeping machines running efficiently.

Experience with hyperMILL CAM software is a big plus, but not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC mills (Doosan, Makino, Heller)
• Work efficiently in an automated pallet cell environment with multiple jobs running at different stages
• Manage multiple setups and priorities while keeping machines running
• Switch between programming, setups, troubleshooting, and other production needs throughout the day
• Read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
• Select cutting tools, workholding, and machining strategies
• Troubleshoot programs, setups, and machining issues
• Optimize tooling, speeds, feeds, and cycle times
• Verify dimensions using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, height gages, etc.)
• Keep track of job progress, tooling, and setups across multiple machines
• Ensure parts meet tight tolerances and cosmetic standards
• Create and maintain accurate setup sheets and machining documentation
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Help improve machining processes and overall shop efficiency

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of CNC mill setup and operation experience
• CNC programming experience preferred
• hyperMILL CAM experience is a plus
• Experience with 3, 4, and 5-axis machining preferred
• Strong understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, and material properties
• Ability to read complex drawings and understand GD&T
• Comfortable holding tolerances within ±.0005"
• Familiarity with Fanuc and/or Siemens controls is a plus
• Experience with automated pallet cell systems preferred
• Ability to manage multiple jobs and adapt to changing priorities throughout the day
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently
• Self-starter who takes ownership of their work and quality
• Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing strongly preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
