Mill Worker Description

­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Job Summary: Set up, operate or tend wood sawing machines.

Essential Functions and Accountabilities: Must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The functions listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Inspect and measure workpieces to mark for cuts and to verify the accuracy of cuts, using rulers, squares or caliper rules.
• Adjust saw blades, using wrenches and rulers or by turning handwheels or pressing pedals, levers or panel buttons.
• Mount and bolt sawing blades or attachments to machine shafts.
• Set up, operate or tend saws or machines that cut or trim wood to specified dimensions, such as band saws, multiple-blade sawing machines, scroll saws, ripsaws, crozer machines, T-Nut machine and boring machines.
• Inspect stock for imperfections or to estimate grades or qualities of stock or workpieces.
• Must maintain regular and predictable attendance
• Must have the ability to work cooperatively with others
• Perform other duties as assigned by manager

Possible Equipment/Tools Used:

• Band saws, multiple-blade sawing machines, scroll saws, ripsaws, crozer machines, T-nut machine and boring machines
• Rulers, Wrenches, Hammers, Screw Drivers

Protective Clothing & Equipment Used:

• Guards on Machines
• Safety Glasses
• Hearing Protection

Education/Experience or Licensing required:

• 3 Months Experience working in a Mill Department of a Manufacturing Company
