POSITION INFO:   Millwright-Cape Winelands Looking for a trade-tested Millwright to maintain, fault-find, repair and continuously improve the mechanical and electrical equipment throughout our MegaPlant. This is a hands-on factory-floor role for someone highly efficient, technically proficient, dependable and able to work independently . We are looking for an artisan who finds the root cause of failures , not someone who simply replaces failed components Requirments: Trade Test Millwright 5-10+ years relevant post-trade experience Industrial/Manufacturing maintenance experience. Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding ability. Able to work efficiently with minimal supervision. Able to read mechanical and electrical drawings. Strong practical problem-solving ability. High standard of workmanship and safety. Comfortable working in a heavy industrial factory environment. Strong experience with: Motors, gearboxes, bearings and couplings. Shaft, pulley and drive alignment. Conveyors, belts, chains and sprockets. Crushers, screens, mixers and production machinery. Pumps, fans and rotating equipment. Hydraulics and pneumatics. Fabrication and welding. Three-phase electrical systems. MCCs, contactors and overloads. Variable Speed Drives (VSDs). Sensors, limit switches and interlocks. Basic PLC fault finding and PLC I/O. Automated production equipment. Key Responsibilities Respond rapidly and efficiently to production breakdowns. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, control and process-related faults. Identify and correct the root cause of failures. Carry out preventative and planned maintenance. Inspect machinery proactively and identify developing problems. Ensure correct bearing installation, alignment, lubrication and equipment mounting. Test equipment properly before returning it to production. Record significant failures and corrective actions. Identify critical spare-part requirements. Support shutdowns and major maintenance work. Continuous Improvement Our Millwrights are expected to improve the factory, not simply maintain it . They should actively identify opportunities to: Reduce repetitive breakdowns. Increase plant availability and production throughput. Reduce maintenance costs. Improve equipment reliability. Improve electrical and mechanical efficiency. Reduce unnecessary motor loading and power consumption. Improve guarding, safety and maintainability. Improve sensors, controls and automation.
