What they need

Pilbara Resource Group is seeking a highly motivated and adaptable Mine Engineer to join our growing team on a 7 days on / 7 days off roster across multiple open-pit iron ore operations in Western Australia. This is a dynamic, full-time role offering exposure to the full mining lifecycle, including drill and blast, load and haul, crushing, stockpile management, haulage, rail, and shipping operations.

As a Mine Engineer, you will work closely with the Senior Mine Engineer, Quarry Manager, and operational teams to support mine planning, scheduling, production optimisation, and operational performance. The role provides hands-on involvement in short to medium-term mine planning and translating mine designs into safe and practical mining activities while supporting continuous improvement across operations.

About the Role

You will have the opportunity to work across several active mining areas, supporting planning and operational functions that directly impact production performance and operational efficiency. This is a rare opportunity to gain broad exposure across mining operations within a small, agile company where your input is valued and learning opportunities are continuous. With new pits and operational areas coming online, this role offers the opportunity to be involved from development through to production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation and execution of short and medium-term mine plans.
  • Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.
  • Monitor mining performance against plan and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support drill and blast planning and coordination activities.
  • Conduct pit inspections and provide technical support to operational teams.
  • Monitor ore mining activities and support grade control and ore management processes.
  • Assist with haulage planning, stockpile management, and material movement coordination.
  • Collaborate with mining, geology, crushing, maintenance, and logistics teams to optimise operational performance.
  • Support production reporting, reconciliation, and operational analysis.
  • Maintain mine planning and reporting systems, including design updates and schedule tracking.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and statutory requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives across mining operations.

About You

You are a proactive and technically capable Mine Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment. You are adaptable, solutions-focused, and eager to gain exposure across all aspects of mining operations and logistics. You have strong communication skills, enjoy working closely with operational teams, and can effectively balance planning requirements with operational realities.

Why Join Us

  • Exposure to multiple open-pit iron ore operations and integrated supply chain activities.
  • Work within a close-knit operational team where your contributions are recognised and valued.
  • Gain broad operational and technical experience across mine planning and production.
  • Opportunity to contribute to developing operations and new mining areas.
  • Be part of a company that encourages initiative, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • 7:7 family-friendly roster.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mining Engineering) or equivalent qualification.
  • 2+ years’ experience in open pit mining operations, ideally within iron ore.
  • Experience with mine planning and scheduling software such as Surpac, Deswik, or similar.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and reporting skills.
  • Understanding of drill and blast, load and haul, and production mining processes.
  • Experience with production reporting, reconciliation, and operational analysis.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills with the ability to work across multiple departments.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Current driver’s license and ability to complete site medical and induction requirements.
