Mining Engineer

Job Responsibilities

• Manage and support mining technical activities for nickel mining operations, including mine development, planning, and operational optimization.
• Develop and optimize mining strategies, long-term plans, and short-term mine plans to ensure efficient and sustainable mining operations.
• Conduct technical analysis and optimization using relevant mining and geotechnical software.
• Conduct laterite nickel geological modeling and classification, including implicit and explicit modeling using Leapfrog or equivalent software.
• Analyze and estimate mining costs and utilize cost data to support mining strategy and operational optimization.
• Provide technical recommendations on mining methods, mine design, production planning, and operational performance.
• Support the entire mine development lifecycle, from mining rights/licensing and mine development to operations and mine closure.
• Coordinate with geology, operations, engineering, and other related teams to ensure effective implementation of mine plans.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in the mining industry, preferably in nickel/laterite nickel mining operations.
• Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering or a related field; Master's Degree is preferred.
• Strong understanding of the entire mining development lifecycle, from mining rights acquisition and mine development to operations and mine closure.
• Strong expertise in mining strategy optimization, long-term planning, and short-term planning.
• Proficient in mining and geotechnical software such as MinePlan, Datamine, MineSched, Deswik, FLAC3D, or equivalent software.
• Strong knowledge of laterite nickel deposits, including their formation, geological interpretation, modeling, and classification.
• Proficient in Leapfrog or equivalent geological modeling software, including implicit and explicit modeling.
• Strong understanding of mine costing, mining methods, mine design, and operational optimization.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical mining management skills.
• Fluent in English; proficiency in Mandarin is preferred.
• Willing to be based at the nickel mining site in East Luwu, South Sulawesi.
