What they need
Mining Robotics Jobs — Mining Robotics Engineer Mining Robotics Jobs at Rex.zone focus on designing, integrating, and validating robotic systems used in mining operations—autonomy stacks, perception, navigation, and safety-critical controls for haul trucks, drilling rigs, inspection rovers, and remote operation platforms.
About The Role Build and maintain robotics capabilities for mining-grade autonomy and remote operations, including perception pipelines, localization, mapping, planning, and controls. Translate field requirements into robust software and system designs, validate performance with simulation and on-vehicle testing, and deliver measurable improvements in safety, availability, and productivity.
What You Will Do
- Design autonomy components: perception, localization, SLAM, and motion/path planning
- Integrate multi-sensor stacks (LiDAR, cameras, IMU, GNSS) using ROS/ROS2
- Create test plans; run simulation-to-real validation; analyze telemetry and triage failures
- Implement mitigations for dust, vibration, low visibility, and GPS-denied conditions
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and operations teams on safe deployments, fault handling, and procedures for remote/supervised autonomy
Required Qualifications
- Mid-Senior experience delivering robotics/autonomous systems in production environments
- Strong C++ and Python on Linux; experience with ROS/ROS2 middleware patterns
- Hands-on knowledge of SLAM, sensor fusion, calibration, and motion planning
- Ability to define requirements, write clear documentation, and work effectively in distributed remote teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Off-road autonomy experience (mining, construction, agriculture)
- Functional safety exposure (hazard analysis, safety cases, fail-safe design)
- Simulation tools (Gazebo, Isaac Sim) and hardware-in-the-loop testing
- Networking/edge compute constraints; CI/CD for robotics and reproducible experiments
Work Environment This is a Remote role supporting US-based operations. Collaboration, reviews, and most development work are performed remotely, with optional coordinated field validation support when required for deployment milestones.
Compensation Competitive hourly base pay: $30–$50 per hour (based on skills and experience).
