Nerospec Group

About Nerospec Group
Nerospec Group delivers advanced technology solutions across the mining, industrial, and commercial sectors. Our expertise includes collision avoidance systems, communications, IoT technology, sensor networks, telemetry, renewable energy, and mining safety solutions.
We are committed to developing practical technologies that improve safety, equipment reliability, and productivity for mining operations worldwide.
The Opportunity
Nerospec Group is hiring motivated, safety-focused technicians to support operations at Kennecott Underground Copper in Utah.
This project is introducing Level 9 collision-avoidance technology at the first mine in the United States to implement this advanced system. Level 9 technology can intervene with mobile equipment through an electro-hydraulic braking interface when a hazardous situation is detected.
Because this technology is new to the U.S. mining industry, we do not expect applicants to already have direct experience with it. Technical and system-specific training will be provided.
We are looking for people who are dependable, willing to learn, able to communicate clearly, and ready to work as part of a team. If you have experience with electrical systems, electronics, hydraulics, automotive systems, heavy equipment, industrial controls, communications, or similar technology, we encourage you to apply.
What You’ll Do

Install, configure, commission, test, and maintain Nerospec Level 9 collision-avoidance systems

Install and maintain electro-hydraulic components used to interface with mobile-equipment braking systems

Troubleshoot electrical, electronic, hydraulic, sensor, communication, and CAN-bus systems

Diagnose hydraulic pressure, flow, valve, hose, fitting, and braking-interface issues

Safely perform functional testing of automatic slow-down and stopping functions

Work on underground and surface mobile mining equipment

Use wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, OEM documentation, and diagnostic equipment

Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, system testing, and equipment commissioning

Identify system faults and determine whether they are electrical, electronic, hydraulic, mechanical, software, or communication related

Document completed work, system faults, repairs, test results, and equipment condition

Communicate clearly with operators, maintenance personnel, site leadership, and technical-support teams

Help identify ways to improve equipment reliability and system performance

Follow MSHA regulations, site procedures, OEM requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, and Nerospec safety standards

Participate in ongoing technical training as the system continues to develop

What We’re Looking For
Direct experience with collision-avoidance technology is not required. We can teach the system, but we need someone who brings the right attitude, work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and willingness to learn.
A strong candidate will have:

A positive attitude and willingness to learn unfamiliar technology

Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic

Good troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities

Mechanical aptitude and a basic understanding of electrical and hydraulic systems

Clear verbal and written communication skills

The ability to work independently and contribute to a team

Experience with automotive, heavy-equipment, industrial, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, or low-voltage systems

The ability to use—or learn to use—multimeters, pressure gauges, and other diagnostic tools

The ability to read—or learn to read—electrical wiring diagrams and hydraulic schematics

An understanding of safe work practices around pressurized hydraulic systems

A valid driver’s license

The ability to work safely in an underground mining environment

A commitment to following safety procedures and completing quality work

Experience That Would Be Helpful
The following experience is valuable, but it is not required:

Mobile hydraulic systems, valves, hoses, fittings, accumulators, or braking systems

Automotive or heavy-equipment electrical troubleshooting

Diesel, automotive, heavy-equipment, agricultural-equipment, or industrial maintenance

Mining, construction, industrial, military, agricultural, or field-service experience

CAN-bus or equipment-network diagnostics

Collision-avoidance or proximity-detection systems

Sensors, cameras, antennas, GPS, telemetry, or communication equipment

OEM underground or surface mining equipment

Electrical, electronics, hydraulics, automotive, diesel, instrumentation, or technology-related training

Applicants with transferable technical experience are encouraged to apply even if they do not meet every preferred qualification.
What We Offer

Competitive compensation based on experience

Hands-on training in advanced Level 9 collision-avoidance technology

Training on Nerospec’s electro-hydraulic equipment-control systems

The opportunity to work on a first-of-its-kind mining technology project in the United States

Experience with advanced mining equipment, braking interfaces, safety systems, sensors, telemetry, and automation

Career-growth opportunities within a global technology-driven organization

Ongoing technical training and professional development

A team-oriented and safety-focused working environment

If you are dependable, mechanically inclined, technically curious, willing to work hard, and interested in building a career in advanced mining technology, we want to hear from you.
Join Nerospec Group and help shape the future of mining safety in the United States.
