Minor Age Intern

MINOR AGE INTERN:

The Minor Age Intern position is for 16-17 yr old workers and is designed to provide industry experience while allowing minor age workers to become familiar with our company. Overall, the position will be responsible for providing general labor to the store and completing a wide variety of tasks as assigned. Essential duties and responsibilities may include:

• Steam cleaning and power washing equipment while being on the ground at all times.
• Cleaning and organizing various areas at the branch as assigned.
• Working in the parts department, including pulling parts and assisting with shipping and receiving, while being on the ground at all times.
• Various clerical and administrative duties to support business operations.
• Preparation and pre-delivery setup of equipment, including detailing, decaling, installation, and checking fluids, while being on the ground at all times.
• Job shadowing existing technicians to better understand equipment maintenance and repair.
• Must wear provided ‘Student Member’ high visibility hat and vest during all working hours.
• Must have the ability to operate in a constant state of alertness, and safe manner.
• Communicate in a courteous and effective manner with customers and/or co-workers.
• Maintain a good working relationship with all other departments.
• Prepare required documentation accurately and timely.
• Read and interpret instruction manual and pertinent literature.
• Maintain a safe working environment and observe all safety laws, policies and rules.
• Other duties may be assigned.
• Overtime work may be required in this position, but shall follow specific state minor work hour guidelines at all times.

This position is specifically restricted from performing the following duties:

• Operating power-driven machinery.
• Working from or on equipment at any time. This includes equipment that is not powered on and climbing onto equipment. Work must always be performed while being on the ground at all times.
• Driving company vehicles, machinery, and/or driving for the company with a personal vehicle in any company capacity.
• Working with or setting up chainsaws.
• Operating power-driven tools. (Battery power driven hand tools, pressure washers and steam cleaners are not restricted and are approved for use.)
• Working from elevated surfaces or heights. Work must always be performed while being on the ground at all times.
• Working on or in proximity to any equipment or hoisting apparatus that is not de-energized and locked out/tagged out. Working in proximity shall mean working within the radius of movement of any portion of the machinery where one could be struck or otherwise injured.

The Minor Age Intern position will be based out of a local Pape' store and the official location will be determined after interviews are conducted. This is typically a part-time position, but specific employment dates and work hours will vary depending on the minor age worker's availability and school schedule. The position’s work hours shall follow the specific state minor worker guidelines at all times.
