What they need
Mitigation Technician – Water & Fire Restoration
ATEX Restoration | Austin, TX
Full-Time
ATEX Restoration is looking for a dependable, hardworking Mitigation Technician to join our growing restoration team.
Restoration experience is welcome, but it is not required. We are always willing to train the right person.
We believe technical skills can be taught. Reliability, work ethic, accountability, and the ability to take pride in your work are harder to teach. If you’re mechanically inclined, comfortable with physical work, willing to learn, and the kind of person who shows up ready to work, we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Do
Our Mitigation Technicians help homeowners and businesses recover after water, fire, and other property damage. Depending on the project, your day may include:
- Water extraction and structural drying
- Setting up and monitoring air movers, dehumidifiers, air scrubbers, and other equipment
- Taking moisture readings and documenting drying progress
- Removing affected drywall, flooring, insulation, cabinetry, and other materials
- Setting up containment and maintaining clean, organized work areas
- Cleaning and treating affected materials
- Assisting with fire, smoke, and microbial remediation
- Taking clear job-site photos and completing daily documentation
- Communicating professionally with customers and the ATEX office team
- Loading, unloading, cleaning, and maintaining company equipment
- Following company safety procedures and industry-standard mitigation practices
Don't know how to do all of that yet? That's okay. We'll teach you.
What We're Actually Looking For
We're less concerned with whether you've worked in restoration before and more interested in how you work.
We're looking for someone who:
- Shows up consistently and on time
- Is willing to learn and take direction
- Takes ownership of their work
- Pays attention to details
- Can work independently and as part of a team
- Treats customers, their homes, and their belongings with respect
- Is comfortable using a phone or tablet for photos, scheduling, and documentation
- Can safely perform physical work, including lifting equipment and materials
- Is comfortable working in environments such as attics, crawlspaces, and containment areas
- Can maintain a clean and professional job site
- Is willing to participate in an on-call rotation for emergency losses
- Can meet applicable driving requirements for operating company vehicles
Construction, maintenance, moving, cleaning, HVAC, plumbing, landscaping, warehouse, or other hands-on experience can translate well to this position, but none of those backgrounds are required for the right candidate.
IICRC certifications are a plus, not a prerequisite.
What We Value
We don't expect you to walk through the door knowing everything.
We do expect you to show up, communicate, learn, and care about the quality of your work.
ATEX will invest the time in teaching someone who wants to build their skills and become great at what they do. As you learn the industry and demonstrate that you can take on more responsibility, there is room to grow within the company.
Why ATEX?
ATEX is a locally owned and operated restoration company. We're growing, and we're building a team of people we can rely on—not simply filling positions.
You'll receive hands-on training in water mitigation, structural drying, demolition, equipment operation, job documentation, and restoration best practices while working alongside an experienced team.
If you already know restoration, great.
If you don't, but you're dependable, teachable, hardworking, and ready to learn—we can teach you the rest.
