Salary: £38,000 – £45,000 + Overtime & Van

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated Mobile Air Conditioning Engineer to join our field operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs, diagnostics, and minor installations across a varied portfolio of commercial, industrial, and retail client sites.

As a mobile engineer, you will represent the company on the front lines, delivering high-quality technical service while ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and F-Gas regulations.

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical & Maintenance Operations

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on commercial air conditioning and refrigeration systems (VRV, VRF, Split/Multi-split units, Chillers, and AHUs).
• Diagnose faults, troubleshoot complex electrical/mechanical issues, and complete reactive repairs efficiently.
• Perform routine leak checks, refrigerant recovery, pressure testing, and system recharging in full compliance with F-Gas regulations.
• Assist with small-works installations, commissioning, and system upgrades as needed.
• Maintain clear and accurate maintenance logs, service reports, and compliance documentation using our digital job management system.

Client & Field Management

• Act as the primary technical point of contact on-site, building positive, professional relationships with facilities managers and client representatives.
• Participate in an on-call emergency response rota [e.g., 1 in 5 weeks] to resolve urgent out-of-hours breakdowns.
• Manage vehicle stock, ensure tools/equipment are calibrated and safe, and order replacement parts in a timely manner.
• Identify additional works, system upgrades, or safety recommendations and communicate them to the service desk/account manager.

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Strictly adhere to company Health & Safety policies, RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements), and site-specific rules.
• Ensure all hazardous materials and refrigerants are handled, stored, and disposed of in compliance with environmental standards.

Requirements & QualificationsQualifications & Certification

• F-Gas Certification (e.g., C&G 2079 Category 1 / F-Gas Non-Domestic or equivalent local environmental certification).
• HVAC/Refrigeration Trade Qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration or equivalent apprenticeship completion).
• Valid Full Driving License (clean or low points).
• Desirable: PASMA, IPAF, or Electrical Qualifications

Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2 years of post-qualification experience as a field-based / mobile HVAC engineer.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across major commercial manufacturers (Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Toshiba)
• Basic electrical fault-finding capabilities (e.g., testing components.
• Proficient with digital mobile working apps, tablet-based reporting, and smartphone tech.
• Good communication skills and a customer-first mindset.
