Equitable Technologies is an MIT-founded medical technology startup headquartered in Boston, with a product development team in Kuala Lumpur. We are developing an innovative approach to cancer screening designed to make early detection more accessible and affordable.

Our advisory network includes leaders from MIT, Harvard, the US FDA, and Cleveland Clinic. Operating in stealth mode, we are building a multidisciplinary team to bring this technology to life.

The Role

We are looking for a hands-on Mobile Application Developer to build and maintain cross-platform applications for iOS and Android using Flutter or React Native.

You will work closely with our hardware, firmware, backend, and product teams to develop reliable mobile experiences involving real-time data, video playback, and connected devices. This role goes beyond UI development, with opportunities to work on native mobile capabilities, performance optimization, and AI-powered features.

We welcome strong developers from either framework, with practical iOS development and release experience being particularly important .

What You’ll Do

Cross-Platform Mobile Development

• Build and maintain production-ready iOS and Android applications using Flutter or React Native.
• Translate Figma designs into responsive, polished, and user-friendly interfaces.
• Develop maintainable application architecture and optimize performance.

Native Platform & Release Management

• Configure, build, and troubleshoot native iOS and Android projects.
• Work with tools such as Xcode, CocoaPods, Gradle, and platform-specific configurations.
• Manage app testing, signing, provisioning, and releases through TestFlight, the App Store, and Google Play.

Backend & Data Integration

• Integrate REST APIs and WebSocket-based services.
• Implement authentication, data persistence, error handling, and application state management.
• Support offline storage and data synchronization where required.

Video & Media Workflows

• Implement video playback, streaming, caching, and related user interactions.
• Troubleshoot playback performance, memory usage, and application lifecycle issues.

Hardware Integration & AI Features

• Collaborate with hardware and firmware engineers to support communication with connected devices, including Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) where required.
• Process and display real-time device data.
• Integrate AI-powered capabilities through cloud-based or on-device services as the product evolves.

What We’re Looking For

Required

• 2–5 years of professional mobile application development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Flutter and Dart, or React Native with JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience building and releasing applications for both iOS and Android.
• Practical experience with iOS build and release workflows, including Xcode, signing, provisioning, and TestFlight or App Store submission.
• Understanding of mobile architecture, state management, asynchronous programming, and performance optimization.
• Experience integrating REST APIs, handling JSON data, and managing authentication and API errors.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborate across engineering teams.

Strongly Preferred

• Experience with native Swift, Objective-C, Kotlin, or Java.
• Experience with platform channels (Flutter) or native modules (React Native).
• Familiarity with mobile CI/CD, automated testing, and application release workflows.
• Experience with video playback, streaming, WebSockets, or real-time data processing.
• Experience with camera APIs, push notifications, background processing, or offline-first applications.
• Experience with BLE or other connected-device integrations. BLE experience is not mandatory.

Bonus

• Experience in a startup, health-tech, medical device, IoT, or connected-hardware environment.
• Experience integrating AI/LLM APIs into mobile applications.
• Experience taking a mobile product from development through production release.
