Mobile Forensics Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Mobile Forensics Engineer to join our cybersecurity team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting in-depth forensic analysis of mobile and IoT devices, including smartphones and tablets, to uncover digital evidence related to security incidents, cyber threats, and criminal investigations. Your expertise will help strengthen our organization's digital security posture by identifying vulnerabilities, analyzing malicious activities, and supporting incident response efforts. Responsibilities

• Perform forensic examinations of mobile devices to extract, analyze, and preserve digital evidence in accordance with legal and organizational standards.
• Utilize advanced cybersecurity tools such as EnCase, Cellebrite UFED, or Magnet AXIOM to conduct data recovery from smartphones and tablets.
• Investigate security incidents involving mobile platforms by analyzing logs, app data, encryption artifacts, and network activity related to WAN (Wide Area Network) and LAN (Local Area Network) communications.
• Collaborate with incident response teams to identify security breaches, assess vulnerabilities, and develop effective remediation strategies aligned with ISO 27001 and NIST standards.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments on mobile operating systems (Android, iOS) and associated IT infrastructure components like firewalls (Cisco ASA), IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), SIEM (Security Information and Event Management), and endpoint detection solutions.
• Document findings thoroughly through detailed reports that include security risk assessments, forensic procedures, and recommended mitigation actions.
• Stay current with emerging threats in mobile cybersecurity by researching threat intelligence reports, threat detection & response techniques, and new forensic methodologies.

Skills

• Extensive knowledge of computer networking concepts including LAN/WAN architecture, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), IPsec VPNs, network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS), and network security practices.
• Proficiency with cybersecurity tools such as SIEM platforms (Splunk, SolarWinds), vulnerability assessment tools (Nmap), intrusion detection systems (IDS), endpoint detection & response (EDR), and cloud security engineering frameworks (AWS, Azure).
• Strong understanding of operating systems including Windows, macOS, Linux distributions like Debian or CentOS, openSUSE, and virtualization platforms such as VMware or vSphere.
• Experience with mobile device forensics on Android and iOS devices using industry-standard forensic software suites.
• Familiarity with information security compliance standards such as ISO 27000 series (ISO 27001/27002), PCI DSS, FedRAMP, FIPS standards for encryption and FIPS compliance requirements.
• Knowledge of security engineering principles including system hardening, network architecture design for high availability/disaster recovery scenarios, load balancing solutions like F5 or HAProxy.
• Ability to perform vulnerability research, security risk assessments investigation techniques, threat detection & response strategies aligned with NIST frameworks.
• Skills in scripting languages such as Python or Bash for automation of forensic tasks or data analysis; experience with DevOps practices is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills to prepare comprehensive forensic reports and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams focused on cybersecurity incident management.

Pay: $30,000.00 - $300,000.00 per year
