Role Description

This is a full-time role for a Mobile Heavy Plant Mechanic based in West Winterslow. You will be required to travel to customer sites to inspect, diagnose, and repair a range of heavy plant and construction machinery, including hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems. Daily tasks include performing scheduled servicing, responding to breakdowns, carrying out fault-finding, and completing repair work to manufacturer standards. The role also involves maintaining accurate service records, ordering or fitting replacement parts, and ensuring all work complies with health and safety regulations. The mechanic will liaise with customers to explain findings, provide clear updates on repair progress, and support the smooth operation of their equipment.

Qualifications

Strong knowledge of heavy plant, construction, or agricultural machinery, including hydraulics, diesel engines, and mechanical systems.

Experience in fault diagnosis, repair, and preventative maintenance for mobile equipment in field-based or workshop environments.

Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service documentation, with good attention to detail and accuracy.

Understanding of health and safety practices, safe working procedures, and proper use of tools and equipment.

Effective communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work independently and manage time on multiple sites.

Relevant vocational qualification or apprenticeship in plant maintenance, heavy vehicle mechanics, or a related discipline.

Full, valid driving license suitable for travel to customer locations; willingness to work occasional extended hours as needed.

Pay: £25,885.81-£51,099.53 per year
