What they need
Company Description PPL (Progress Plant Ltd) is Leicester’s leading independent plant hire company, operating from a purpose-built depot in central Leicester for over 40 years. The company supplies plant hire, small tools, and attachments across the Midlands and nationwide, with a strong emphasis on health, safety, and compliance. As part of a larger construction group formed in 1976, PPL benefits from extensive resources and industry experience in civil engineering, housing, infrastructure, and construction. Being independently owned allows PPL to offer flexible, responsive solutions tailored to client needs. The team maintains up-to-date product knowledge to provide modern, fit-for-purpose plant equipment for a wide range of projects.
Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Mobile Plant Mechanic role based in Leicester. The Mobile Plant Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a variety of plant equipment, small tools, and attachments both in the depot and on client sites. Day-to-day tasks include carrying out routine servicing and inspections, troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, and ensuring all equipment meets safety and compliance standards. The role involves preparing equipment for hire, responding to breakdowns promptly, and keeping accurate maintenance records. The Mobile Plant Mechanic will collaborate with the hire desk, drivers, and site teams to prioritize workloads and support efficient delivery of equipment to clients.
