Mobile Technical Lead

Job Purpose

· Lead the technical design, development and implementation of mobile applications across the UCSI Group. Establish common mobile architecture, development standards, reusable components and integration practices to support multiple UCSI Group companies and business units.

· The position is expected to remain hands-on in development while providing technical leadership, mentoring and architectural direction to the Mobile Development Team.

Key Responsibilities

· Define enterprise mobile application architecture and development standards.

· Lead technical design for new mobile applications and major enhancements.

· Establish coding standards, Git practices, branching strategies and code-review processes.

· Conduct technical reviews and approve major architectural decisions.

· Mentor and guide junior and mid-level developers.

· Evaluate new mobile technologies, frameworks and development practices.

· Develop and maintain mobile applications using Flutter, React Native or equivalent technologies.

· Participate in complex coding, troubleshooting and performance optimisation.

· Develop reusable mobile components, libraries and common platform capabilities.

· Design and implement authentication, authorisation, push notifications and device integrations.

· Design integration between mobile applications and enterprise systems through APIs and other approved integration mechanisms.

· Work with REST APIs, databases and enterprise applications.

· Coordinate integration with existing UCSI systems such as SSO, student systems, payment systems and institutional platforms.

· Establish mobile security standards and ensure secure handling of authentication tokens, credentials and sensitive data.

· Review application vulnerabilities and third-party libraries.

· Provide technical guidance, code reviews, estimation and technical risk assessment.

· Coordinate technical activities across different UCSI Group companies and business units.

Required Qualifications & Experience

· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related discipline.

· 6–8+ years of software/mobile development experience.

· At least 2–3 years in a senior or technical lead role is preferred.

· Strong hands-on experience in enterprise or production mobile application development.

Required Technical Skills

· Strong experience with Flutter/Dart, React Native/TypeScript, Android/Kotlin or iOS/Swift.

· REST API and JSON integration.

· SQL and database concepts.

· Git and source-control practices.

· CI/CD concepts and deployment pipelines.

· Firebase or equivalent mobile services.

· OAuth2, OpenID Connect or enterprise SSO.

· Mobile application security and secure coding practices.

· Application performance optimisation and troubleshooting.

Desirable Experience

· Experience leading a mobile development team.

· Experience developing applications for large or multi-business-unit organisations.

· Experience with enterprise SSO and identity platforms.

· Experience with payment integration.

· Experience with Google Play and Apple App Store deployment.

· Experience designing reusable mobile platforms and design systems.

· Experience with Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Microsoft Entra ID/Active Directory, .NET, Node.js or equivalent enterprise technologies.

Pay: RM4,500.00 - RM16,000.00 per month
