About the Role:
An opportunity exists for an experienced Modelling and Operational Analysis Simulation System (MOASS) Specialist to support the accreditation, operation, and sustainment of a critical Defence simulation capability. This is a part-time role.

Working under limited direction, the successful candidate will undertake complex and specialised technical tasks to enable the Commonwealth of Australia (CoA) to grant Authority to Operate (ATO) for the Modelling and Operational Analysis Simulation System (MOASS) at required security levels.

This role will also provide interim system maintenance and administration support prior to full accreditation, ensuring MOASS is available and reliable for Defence Training, Test and Development (TTD) activities.
The position requires regular engagement with stakeholders at all levels and acting as a primary point of contact for system and accreditation enquiries.

What’s Involved:

  • Delivering MOASS security accreditation and Authorisation activities, including preparation of ATO documentation in consultation with the approving Delegate, in accordance with the ISM, SAPMAN, and the system Concept of Operations.
  • Providing simulation system, software and network technical support for complex engineering environments, including software development and scripting (including LUA) to deliver bespoke analytical tools and rapid‑turnaround modelling outcomes.
  • Establishing, documenting and maintaining MOASS system configurations, baselines, technical procedures and security controls, along with user account management, system documentation and databases.
  • Designing, implementing and supporting system changes, upgrades and sustainment activities (including patches, service packs and security configuration) in consultation with security authorities.
  • Monitoring system performance, capacity and reliability, managing obsolescence, and supporting ongoing ICT security accreditation to ensure MOASS availability and compliance.

Who we’re Looking For:
You are a highly capable technical specialist with experience operating in secure, regulated ICT environments, able to work independently on complex systems. You bring strong stakeholder engagement skills and can communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Experience supporting system accreditation, sustainment and operational use within Defence or government environments will be highly regarded.

You’ll Need:

  • Top Secret – Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance
  • Eligibility to work as DISP Level 3/4 personnel
  • Demonstrated experience with programming and scripting languages, including LUA
  • Experience supporting secure ICT systems and working within security accreditation frameworks (e.g. ISM, SAPMAN)
  • Strong analytical capability and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively in complex operational environments.

Required Security Clearance Level: TSPV
Location: RAAF Base Williamtown
Weekly Hours: 16 Hours - part-time (Monday-Friday)
