The ideal candidate has strong architecture experience across modern front-end and server-side technologies, particularly React/Next.js, Angular, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, APIs, and containerized application platforms. Experience designing applications for Red Hat OpenShift is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Define end-to-end architecture for modern enterprise web applications, translating business and technical requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
- Establish architectural standards and design patterns for modern web technologies, including React, Next.js, Angular, Node.js, Nest.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
- Design application components, APIs, integrations, data flows, and deployment architectures using appropriate patterns such as microservices, modular monoliths, and event-driven architecture.
- Guide API and enterprise system integrations using REST, GraphQL, and asynchronous messaging, ensuring security, performance, reliability, and lifecycle management.
- Provide architectural direction for cloud-native and containerized applications running on Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift.
- Incorporate security, scalability, availability, performance, resiliency, and observability into application designs and establish production-readiness standards.
- Lead architecture and technical design reviews, evaluate technology options and trade-offs, and document architectural decisions and standards.
- Collaborate with enterprise architecture, development, security, DevSecOps, infrastructure, data, and integration teams to drive application modernization and establish reusable architecture patterns.
Qualifications:
- Significant experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale applications, including experience as a Solution Architect, Application Architect, Technical Architect, or equivalent technical leader.
- Strong understanding of modern web application architecture and software engineering practices.
- Strong knowledge of modern JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystems and experience with React/Next.js and/or Angular.
- Strong understanding of Node.js application and API architectures.
- Experience with REST APIs, distributed systems, integration patterns, and service-oriented or microservices architectures.
- Experience designing applications for containerized environments using Docker, Kubernetes, or comparable technologies.
- Strong understanding of application security, identity, authentication, authorization, CI/CD, and modern software delivery practices.
- Experience designing for availability, scalability, performance, resiliency, and observability.
- Ability to work across multiple technical organizations and communicate effectively with engineering teams, architects, technology leaders, and business stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Architecture and deployment experience with Red Hat OpenShift.
- Experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with API management, gateway technologies, enterprise identity solutions, and messaging/event-streaming technologies such as Kafka.
- Knowledge of service mesh, distributed tracing, and cloud-native observability technologies.
- Experience with DevSecOps and automated software delivery practices.
- Experience modernizing legacy applications into modern web and cloud-native architectures.
- Experience in large, complex, highly regulated, utility, energy, or critical-infrastructure environments; utility experience is not required.
