Job Summary

Duties

• Prepare and process biological specimens through techniques such as RNA extraction, DNA isolation, and blood sample processing, adhering to strict aseptic and safety protocols
• Perform molecular assays including PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction), ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay), flow cytometry, and other immunoassays to analyze samples accurately
• Manage laboratory information systems (LIS) and data management platforms to record, track, and analyze experimental results with precision
• Implement laboratory quality control protocols to ensure compliance with CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) regulations and maintain high standards of accuracy
• Conduct specimen collection, processing, and blood banking procedures including venipuncture and phlebotomy in accordance with medical terminology and physiology knowledge
• Operate medical laboratory equipment such as centrifuges, pipettes, spectrophotometers, and diagnostic analyzers while maintaining proper calibration and maintenance schedules
• Assist in the design, execution, and interpretation of laboratory tests related to clinical chemistry, microbiology testing, hematology, and molecular diagnostics for research or clinical trials

Skills

• Strong data management skills with experience using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) or similar platforms for accurate record-keeping
• Proficiency in molecular biology techniques including PCR, ELISA, flow cytometry, immunoassays, RNA extraction, DNA isolation, and assay development
• Knowledge of laboratory procedures related to specimen collection/processing, blood banking, hematology, microbiology testing, and clinical chemistry testing
• Familiarity with medical laboratory work experience within hospital or clinical settings; understanding of CLIA regulations is highly desirable
• Ability to interpret diagnostic test results accurately while adhering to laboratory quality control standards
• Excellent laboratory techniques including aseptic technique, venipuncture (blood sampling), specimen handling, and laboratory equipment operation
• Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, physiology principles relevant to blood sampling and diagnostic testing
• Data analysis skills for interpreting complex datasets generated from various assays; comfortable working with laboratory information systems (LIS)
• Effective communication skills for documenting procedures clearly and collaborating within multidisciplinary teams involved in clinical trials or research projects
