About the Role

We’re looking for a Motion Design Lead to lead our motion design function while staying hands-on.

This is a hands-on leadership role: around 20–30% of your time will be focused on mentoring and developing a team of Motion Designers, while 70–80% will be spent creating video creatives yourself.

You’ll own the creative quality and professional development of the motion design team, while working closely with our Creative Producer, marketing, design, and other teams.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys both sides of the role: creating great work and making other designers better.

What you'll do

Motion Design & Creative Production

• Create high-quality motion graphics, animations, and video creatives for mobile apps and marketing campaigns
• Produce performance creatives for Meta, TikTok, UAC, and other channels
• Turn briefs and marketing hypotheses into strong visual concepts and engaging videos
• Experiment with hooks, storytelling, formats, and visual styles to improve creative performance
• Create product videos, onboarding animations, and other content for our apps
• Use AI-generated assets and AI tools in your creative workflow
• Iterate based on feedback, testing, and performance results
• Bring relevant motion design, advertising, social media, and AI trends into the team's work

Team Leadership

• Mentor and develop a team of Motion Designers
• Set and maintain a high creative and technical quality bar
• Review work and provide clear, actionable feedback
• Help designers grow their motion design, storytelling, creative thinking, and performance marketing skills
• Identify strengths and development areas and support individual growth
• Build useful standards, templates, workflows, and best practices
• Encourage experimentation, ownership, and continuous improvement

Collaboration

• Work closely with the Creative Producer on creative production
• Collaborate with marketing, design, and other teams to turn business goals into strong creative solutions
• Provide motion design expertise during concept development and creative discussions
• Help shape our creative language and scalable motion design workflows

About You

Must-have

• 5+ years of commercial experience in motion design, with a strong Senior-level background
• Experience mentoring, coaching, or leading other designers
• A strong portfolio demonstrating excellent motion design, visual storytelling, and video editing
• Strong experience creating performance marketing creatives
• Good understanding of performance creative principles: hooks, testing, iteration, CTR, retention, and creative fatigue
• Strong proficiency in Adobe After Effects
• Excellent sense of rhythm, timing, composition, and visual storytelling
• Ability to turn a brief or marketing hypothesis into a strong creative concept
• Experience using AI tools in creative production
• Strong communication skills and the ability to give clear, constructive feedback
• Ability to balance hands-on creative work with mentoring

Nice to have

• Experience working with mobile apps or consumer digital products
• Experience with After Effects plugins, scripts, and expressions
• Experience building motion design systems, templates, or workflows
• Strong interest in advertising, social media, and emerging AI creative tools
