What they need
As a Motor Claims Handler, you will own the final stage of the credit hire claim process. Once the hire period has ended, you will investigate the claim, challenge what is being charged, and negotiate a fair settlement that minimises the financial impact for our customers.
You will review hire, storage and recovery charges in detail, test whether the periods and rates claimed are reasonable, and decide whether storage was applicable at all.
Prior claims handling experience is preferable, but full training is provided. If you have transferable skills and a real appetite to learn, we'd like to hear from you.
- Acquire expert knowledge of credit hire laws, rules and protocols
- Manage your own caseload efficiently to achieve monthly targets both individually and as part of the team
- Negotiate and settle claims by agreement wherever possible
- Review hire, storage and recovery timelines, rates and claimed periods to ensure they are reasonable and not exaggerated
- Request and review supporting documentation to shape an effective settlement strategy
- Communicate with all relevant parties by phone, email or letter, providing a professional standard of service to internal and external customers
- Nominate or instruct solicitors when required
- Identify potential fraud indicators and escalate or manage them appropriately
- Handle inbound and outbound calls
- Keep a high standard of work, with clear, detailed case notes, to meet internal and external audit requirements
