Responsibilities

• Safely operate motor coaches on scheduled routes, including city streets, highways, and adverse weather conditions, while complying with all traffic laws and transportation safety regulations.
• Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure mechanical soundness, including checking air brakes, lights, tires, and other critical systems.
• Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, providing special needs assistance and passenger support as needed.
• Use two-way radios for effective communication with dispatchers and fellow drivers to coordinate routes and respond to changing conditions.
• Navigate efficiently through city streets and unfamiliar areas, ensuring timely arrivals and departures.
• Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle inspections, mileage, and incidents in compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
• Provide exceptional customer service by addressing passenger inquiries, ensuring comfort, and creating a positive travel experience for all riders.

Skills

• Proven experience in bus driving, including motor coach or school bus operation, with a strong understanding of transportation safety regulations.
• Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle inspections and identify maintenance needs promptly.
• Skilled in defensive driving techniques to prevent accidents and handle challenging driving conditions safely.
• Familiarity with city street navigation and traffic laws across different regions.
• Ability to operate air brake systems and other commercial vehicle controls confidently.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with passengers using two-way radios or direct conversation.
• Experience in passenger assistance, including helping those with special needs or mobility challenges.
• Knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, state transportation rules, and safety standards related to commercial driving.
• Ability to drive in adverse weather conditions while maintaining safety standards.
• Strong English language skills for clear communication with passengers and team members.
