Responsibilities

• Safely operate motor coaches, shuttles, and school buses along designated city streets and routes, complying with all traffic laws and transportation safety regulations.
• Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after each shift to ensure mechanical soundness and readiness for service.
• Maintain communication with dispatchers via two-way radios to receive route updates, traffic information, and coordinate passenger pickups or drop-offs.
• Assist passengers with boarding, alighting, and provide support for those with special needs or mobility challenges.
• Navigate complex city street layouts efficiently while ensuring passenger safety at all times.
• Adhere strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, state transportation laws, and air brake requirements when applicable.
• Respond professionally to adverse weather conditions or traffic disruptions to maintain schedule integrity and passenger safety.

Qualifications

• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements such as passenger (P) and air brake (L) where required.
• Proven experience in bus driving, shuttle driving, or delivery driving with a clean driving record.
• Strong mechanical knowledge of motor coaches and transit vehicles for routine maintenance checks.
• Knowledge of traffic laws, safety regulations, and vehicle inspection procedures related to commercial driving.
• Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with passengers and team members using two-way radios or other communication devices.
• Ability to operate vehicles safely under various weather conditions including rain, snow, or fog.
• Experience working with paratransit services or providing passenger assistance is a plus.
• Familiarity with city street navigation and transportation safety standards is essential.

Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week
