What they need

We are an independent, fast-paced motorcycle retailer seeking an experienced, reliable and hardworking Motorcycle Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will inspect, repair and prepare a wide range of motorcycles for sale, MOT and customer handover.

Ideally, you will have previous workshop experience and a strong knowledge of motorcycle maintenance and repair. However, we are also open to candidates who can demonstrate the necessary practical skills and technical knowledge without holding formal qualifications.

This is a varied, hands-on position for someone who is organised, safety-conscious and motivated to work independently while supporting the wider team. The role may also include motorcycle collection and delivery, inventory duties and general store operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, service and repair motorcycles to a professional standard.
  • Prepare motorcycles for sale, MOT testing and customer handover within agreed timescales.
  • Carry out routine maintenance, including oil changes, brake servicing, tyre replacement, chain adjustment and battery checks.
  • Identify mechanical and electrical faults and recommend appropriate repairs.
  • Conduct safety and quality checks before motorcycles leave the workshop.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, parts used and work completed.
  • Keep the workshop, tools and equipment clean, organised and in safe working condition.
  • Collect and deliver motorcycles or goods efficiently when required.
  • Load and unload motorcycles and other goods safely and securely.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
  • Support inventory management, parts handling and general store operations.
  • Follow all workplace health and safety procedures.
  • Assist other team members and departments during busy periods.

Skills and Experience

  • Strong practical motorcycle maintenance and repair skills.
  • Good knowledge of motorcycle mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Previous workshop experience is preferred but not essential for candidates who can demonstrate suitable ability.
  • Ability to diagnose faults and complete repairs efficiently.
  • Confidence working on a variety of motorcycle makes and models.
  • High standards of workmanship and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and customer-service skills.
  • Strong organisation and time-management skills.
  • Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
  • Ability to prioritise multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a close-knit team.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills.

Licence Requirements

  • A valid motorcycle licence is required.
  • A clean driving record is preferred.

What We Offer

  • A varied and engaging role within an independent motorcycle retailer.
  • The opportunity to work on a wide range of motorcycles.
  • A fast-paced, practical working environment.
  • Supportive colleagues and opportunities to develop your skills.
  • A role combining workshop responsibilities, customer service and wider operational support.

This position would suit someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys solving mechanical problems and is committed to preparing safe, reliable motorcycles to a high professional standard.
