Travel MRI Technologist – Float (Greater Hartford Area)

Position Title: MRI Technologist (Float Pool)

Contract Duration: 13 Weeks (Possibility of Extension)

Location: Greater Hartford Area, CT (10 Outpatient Centers within a 25-mile radius)

Shift: Day Shift (4 days/week; 4x9 or 4x10 schedules available; start times between 6:30 AM – 9:30 AM)

Weekly Gross Pay: $2,400 – $2,775 / week (Includes up to $1,575 weekly stipend for qualified travelers)

Start Dates: Flexible November start dates - Best start 11/9

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced and adaptable MRI Technologists to join our outpatient float team across the Greater Hartford, CT area. In this role, you will deliver exceptional patient care while operating high-field MRI equipment at established outpatient imaging facilities.

To ensure your success and comfort, each MRI Technologist is paired with a dedicated Medical Assistant (MA) to help manage workflow, assist with patient preparation, and support smooth operations. Schedules and site assignments are provided 2 weeks in advance .

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Care: Provide high-quality compassionate care and perform Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) procedures as ordered by referring physicians.
• Imaging Quality & Protocols: Execute MRI exams in strict accordance with established procedure and protocol manuals, maintaining high standards of image quality, safety, and productivity.
• System Operations: Proficiently operate MRI equipment and relevant healthcare technology, including Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and Picture Archival & Communication Systems (PACS) (MedInformatix EHR).
• IV Administration: Safely and accurately perform intravenous injections for contrast administration.
• Workplace Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols regarding magnetic field safety, patient screening, and sterile techniques.

• Manageable Patient Volumes: Outpatient environment averaging 8–10 patients per day (12–26 scans/day depending on protocol length).
• Modern Facilities: Perform scans primarily on GE systems, with one high-field open Hitachi unit site.
• Centrally Located: Float across 10 outpatient centers located within a compact 25-mile radius around West Hartford.

Required Qualifications

• Certification: Active ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT certification.
• BLS Certification: Current CPR / Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of hands-on experience in high-field MRI imaging.
• Clinical Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in performing intravenous (IV) injections for contrast agents.
• Patient Population: Comfort working with adult populations (no pediatric patients under 10 years old).

Preferred Qualifications & Soft Skills

• Previous outpatient imaging center experience.
• Adaptable, flexible, and easygoing demeanor suited for floating across multiple sites.
• Ability to work independently with confidence while collaborating effectively with your assigned MA and site staff.

• Primary Equipment: GE MRI Systems (Bloomfield location features a Hitachi Open MRI)
• Dress Code: Scrubs (Any solid color or system-issued)
• Float Locations (Greater Hartford Area): Avon, Bloomfield, Enfield, Farmington, Glastonbury, Granby, Hartford, West Hartford, and Wethersfield.
