Ms Sql Database Administrator

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and administer MS SQL Server in standalone and clustered environments.
• Manage database maintenance, including backups, restores, DBCC checks, and shrink operations.
• Implement and support High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions such as Log Shipping, Always On Availability Groups, and Failover Clustering.
• Perform Cutover/Cutback (DC-DR) activities and participate in DR Drills.
• Monitor and troubleshoot issues related to Log Shipping, Always On synchronization, SQL Agent jobs, and maintenance plans.
• Conduct database health checks monitor error logs, blocking, job failures, and backup status.
• Ensure all database backups are successfully completed and verified for production systems.
• Manage database security create and manage logins, users, roles, and enforce access control policies.
• Perform database upgrades, migrations, patching, and apply service packs/cumulative updates.
• Document installation, configuration, upgrade, and maintenance processes for knowledge sharing and audit purposes.
• Collaborate with application and development teams to understand requirements and deliver database solutions.
• Perform failover and failback operations in Always On and clustered setups.
• Monitor and respond to SQL Server alerts and performance issues proactively.
• Provide L2-level production support (24x7), escalating critical issues to L3 when necessary.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• 46 years of hands-on experience as an MS SQL Server DBA in production environments.
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server High Availability &Disaster Recovery Log Shipping, Always On, and Clustering.
• Proficient in database maintenance, backup/recovery, and performance tuning.
• Experience with database upgrades, migrations, and patch management.
• Sound understanding of database security, roles, and permissions management.
• Familiar with monitoring tools and SQL performance analysis.
• Good communication and coordination skills across technical and business teams.
• Ability to work under pressure in a 24x7 production support environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or SQL Server Database Certification.
• Exposure to cloud-based SQL (Azure SQL, AWS RDS) environments.
