Job Overview

A highly motivated researcher is sought for this unique opportunity to develop existing research areas and help to build exciting new directions within the field of Deep learned Material Models. The Computational Mechanics and Modeling group is actively involved in a number of projects covering a diverse array of applications, including shape and kinematic analysis of non-destructive testing for the diagnosis of early failure, novel design concepts and optimal design strategies for Polymeric structures, efficient and accurate computational nondestructive material characterization algorithms, and reduced-order modeling for simulating multi-physics behaviors.

A specific ongoing project involves development and implementation of degradation methods to evaluate changes in the performance of the composites, including both direct statistical analysis as well as inverse estimation of material decay due to exposure to heat. The potential areas for further expansion include additional applications of inverse problems in mechanics of soft materials or artificial structures, with specifics depending upon the particular interests and capabilities of the candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement finite element models using specialized software to simulate biological and biomedical systems
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design experiments and interpret complex data sets
  • Conduct comprehensive data analysis employing tools such as R, Python, MATLAB, and statistical software
  • Assist in preparing scientific publications, reports, and presentations based on research findings
  • Support the collection and organization of experimental data from laboratory or computational studies
  • Contribute to research project planning, including experimental design and technical troubleshooting
  • Engage in scientific discussions, seminars, and peer-reviewed journal submissions to disseminate research outcomes

Qualifications

  • · possess MSc, or PhD in a relevant STEM discipline and have an excellent academic record.

· have expertise in computational mechanics and numerical methods.

  • Familiarity with Abaqus user subroutine development

  • Expert level understanding of static and dynamic structural simulations using Ansys or Abaqus on consumer grade hardware in handheld/portable/wearable consumer electronics products

  • Thorough knowledge of Solid Mechanics and Strength of Materials

  • have high knowledge of finite element and continuum mechanics

  • has experience in coding with ANSYS and one or more software languages (e.g., Python, C++, Fortran, and/or MATLAB).

  • have a strong work ethic and time management skills along with the ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team as required.

Join us in pushing the boundaries of scientific discovery through innovative computational modeling! This internship provides valuable hands-on experience in a collaborative environment dedicated to advancing biomedical research. We are committed to fostering your professional growth while contributing meaningfully to impactful projects.
