Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Level 3 Technical Engineer to join our Managed Services Provider (MSP) team. In this role, you will serve as the primary escalation authority for complex infrastructure, network, and cybersecurity issues that Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams cannot resolve. Beyond firefighting, you will architect hybrid solutions, lead client project deployments, perform deep-dive root cause analyses, and mentor junior engineers. Your energetic approach will drive continuous improvement and ensure the seamless operation of distributed systems across diverse environments.
Duties:
- Tier 3 Escalations: Take ownership of complex, high-impact technical incidents across client networks, servers, cloud tenants, and applications.
- Infrastructure & Cloud Engineering: Design, deploy, and manage Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), Exchange Online, and Intune environments.
- Virtualization & Storage: Administer and optimize VMware vSphere/ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V clusters, alongside enterprise SAN/NAS storage arrays (e.g., Dell EMC, Pure Storage, NetApp).
- Advanced Networking: Configure and troubleshoot Layer 2/Layer 3 switching, OSPF/BGP routing, VLAN segmentation, VPNs, and enterprise firewalls (e.g., Fortinet, Palo Alto, SonicWall, Cisco Meraki).
- Backup & Disaster Recovery: Manage business continuity solutions, including Veeam Backup & Replication, immutable backups, and routine disaster recovery testing.
- Project Delivery: Lead client onboarding, multi-site network upgrades, and cloud/hybrid migrations from planning through handoff.
- Automation & RMM: Utilize PowerShell and RMM/PSA platforms (e.g., NinjaOne, Autotask, ConnectWise) to automate routine fixes, patch management, and vulnerability remediation.
- Documentation & Mentorship: Maintain accurate network maps and runbooks in documentation platforms (e.g., IT Glue, Hudu) while mentoring L1/L2 technicians
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience: 7+ years of hands-on systems engineering or senior support experience, with a strong background working inside an MSP or multi-client IT environment.
- Microsoft Stack: Deep mastery of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, M365, and Azure infrastructure.
- Networking & Security: Solid command of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, EDR tools, and zero-trust security hardening.
- Problem-Solving: Proven ability to independently drive root-cause analysis and resolve ambiguous, multi-vendor technical failures.
- Soft Skills: Clear communication skills to explain technical roadmaps and incident reports to non-technical business clients.
Preferred Certifications:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) or Solutions Architect (AZ-305)
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent (CompTIA)
- Fortinet NSE / Palo Alto PCNSA/PCNSE
- Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE)
Pay: $65,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
