Overtime as the job requires. Steady work, not a one-week call-out.

About the company

JW Grand is a Baton Rouge general contractor founded in 1975. We build industrial and commercial work across South Louisiana. A lot of our field work is self-perform renovations with our own crew. You work for the company, not a labor broker.

The job

You are a working craftsman on commercial and light industrial jobs. Most of the work is renovation: take apart, rebuild, finish, and leave the space ready for the owner. Jobs run across South Louisiana. Some work is inside operating plants and commercial buildings, so access credentials and site training are part of the job.

What you will do

• Carpentry and general construction on renovations and small build-outs
• Demo, framing, doors, trim, ceilings, painting, fixtures, and punch-list work
• Layout, measure, cut, and install to the drawings and the existing building
• Work from a superintendent or lead; keep quality high without being watched every minute
• Keep the work area clean and safe, especially in occupied buildings and plants
• Load, unload, and look after company tools and materials
• Follow plant and owner rules once you are badged onto a site
• Complete required site access training before mobilizing to a facility

Must have

• Real field experience as a craftsman, carpenter, or similar — not first-week helper work
• Own basic hand tools
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to pass a background check and drug screen
• Ability to work jobs across South Louisiana
• TWIC card and Security Passport, or the ability to obtain both before or immediately after hire
• Willingness to complete Basic Orientation Plus at the Safety Council, plus any site-specific training required by the facility we are working in
• Show up on time, take pride in the finished work, and stay until the job is clean

Strong plus

• Commercial renovation in occupied buildings or operating plants
• Finish carpentry, doors and hardware, ceilings, or light metal stud / drywall
• Already holds TWIC, Security Passport, and Basic Orientation Plus
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
• Can read drawings well enough to lay out a room without guessing
• South Louisiana jobsite experience

How we work

This is a lean crew. You will not hide in a crowd of 40 men. The superintendent runs the job; you are expected to produce, protect the work, and speak up when something is wrong. Do this well and there is room to move into lead work.

Schedule and travel

Headquarters is in Baton Rouge. Jobsites are across South Louisiana. Expect early starts, time on the road, occasional weekends, and overnight stays when the job is too far for a daily drive. Industrial sites will require their own orientation and badging before you go to work.
