Multi-Skilled Builder / Carpenter

Job Summary

ZS Construct Limited is looking for an experienced Multi-Skilled Builder / Carpenter to join our growing team in Weston-super-Mare.

This is a hands-on role for someone with a strong background in domestic construction who is comfortable working across different trades rather than carrying out the same type of work every day.

We undertake a wide range of residential building projects throughout Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset and the surrounding area, including extensions, loft conversions, structural alterations, renovations, kitchens, bathrooms and general property improvements.

The successful applicant will ideally have a strong carpentry background alongside good general building experience. You do not need to be a specialist in every trade, but we are looking for somebody who is confident working independently, can solve problems on site and takes pride in producing a good standard of work.

Typical work will include:

• First and second fix carpentry
• Timber studwork and structural carpentry
• Kitchen installation and associated carpentry
• Extensions and renovation projects
• Loft conversion works
• Internal structural alterations
• Brick and blockwork
• Flooring and finishing work
• Roofing and timber roof repairs
• General building and property improvement works
• Working alongside electricians, plumbers and other specialist subcontractors

The person we are looking for will have:

• Previous experience working within domestic construction
• Strong practical carpentry skills
• Good general building knowledge
• Experience with brickwork or blockwork would be beneficial
• The ability to work from drawings and instructions
• Good attention to detail
• The ability to organise their own workload
• A professional manner when working in customers' homes
• Good communication skills
• A full driving licence
• Reliable transport to get to work

We are particularly interested in applicants who are comfortable taking ownership of smaller sections of a project rather than requiring constant supervision.

About the role

This is a full-time position with ongoing work available across our current and upcoming projects.

ZS Construct carries out everything from individual carpentry and building works through to complete extensions, loft conversions and property renovations. Because of this, the role offers considerably more variety than working continuously on one particular trade or type of construction.

For the right person, there will also be opportunities to take on additional responsibility as the company continues to grow.

• £34,000–£38,000 per year depending on experience and ability
• Full-time, permanent role
• Company vehicle available for work use as required
• Access to company tools and equipment

CIS subcontractor

• Ongoing full-time workload
• Competitive day rate depending on experience and ability
• Own tools and transport required

The exact arrangement can be discussed with suitable applicants.

Pay: £34,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
