What they need

Join an International Engineering Company with Over 70 Years of Heritage

Vestas aircoil is a global leader in the design, manufacture and servicing of air cooling solutions for the marine, power generation and industrial sectors. Since 1956, we have delivered innovative heat exchanger solutions to customers around the world.

Today, we operate manufacturing facilities in Denmark, China, Romania, the USA and the UK, supported by a global network of service professionals. While we are launching an exciting new manufacturing facility in Peterlee, Vestas Aircoil has maintained a presence in the UK since 2003, providing the stability and opportunities that come with being part of an established international organisation.

As we continue to grow, we are recruiting a number of Multi-Skilled Heat Exchanger Technicians to support the manufacture, refurbishment and servicing of aftermarket Dry Air Coolers (DAC) and Charge Air Coolers (CAC).

About the Role

This is a varied, hands-on position within a growing manufacturing and service operation. You will be involved in producing, assembling, repairing, refurbishing and testing heat exchanger products for customers around the world.

As we establish our Peterlee operation, we are building a team with a variety of skills and backgrounds. We are not expecting candidates to have experience in every aspect of heat exchanger manufacturing, and we recognise that very few people will possess all the skills listed below.

Instead, we are looking for individuals who can bring existing skills and experience that can be developed through training into a multi-skilled production environment.

Full training will be provided on our products, processes and equipment.

For candidates seeking a varied and rewarding career, opportunities may also be available in the future to progress into Field Service Engineering roles, supporting customers both within the UK and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

Depending on your skills, experience and training, responsibilities may include:

  • Manufacturing and assembling heat exchanger products and components.
  • Operating specialist production equipment, including:
  • Progression Punch Machines
  • Tube Decoiler and Cutting Machines
  • Multi-Tube Expanding Machines
  • Mechanical assembly of heat exchanger cores and finished units.
  • Performing oxy-propane brazing activities.
  • Conducting pressure testing and quality inspections.
  • Refurbishing and repairing customer heat exchangers.
  • Disassembling, cleaning and inspecting returned equipment.
  • Reading and following engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Completing production and quality documentation.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintaining a safe, clean and organised work environment.

Who We're Looking For

We welcome applications from individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Brazing or fabrication
  • Pressure testing and quality inspection
  • Maintenance and repair
  • HVAC or refrigeration systems
  • Heat exchanger manufacturing
  • Automotive manufacturing
  • Marine engineering
  • General engineering or industrial environments

Whether you are an experienced machine operator, assembler, fabricator, maintenance technician, service engineer or production operative, we would be interested in hearing from you.

Essential Requirements

  • Good practical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement.
  • Reliable, flexible and self-motivated approach to work.

Desirable Experience

Experience in one or more of the following would be advantageous:

  • Operating industrial machinery.
  • Engineering or manufacturing environments.
  • Mechanical assembly.
  • Oxy-propane brazing or similar processes.
  • Reading engineering drawings.
  • Pressure testing.
  • Heat exchanger, HVAC or refrigeration equipment.

Don't worry if you don't tick every box – we are committed to developing the right people and providing the training required for success.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary.
  • Full training and development programme.
  • Opportunity to become multi-skilled across a range of manufacturing and service activities.
  • Career progression opportunities, including specialist technical and Field Service Engineering roles.
  • Supportive team environment.
  • Modern manufacturing facility.
  • Opportunity to help establish and grow a new operation in Peterlee.
  • The stability and backing of an established international engineering company with over 70 years of heritage.
