Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer -Electrical Bias

Emmi Desserts UK make frozen cakes and desserts for pubs restaurants and coffee shops around the UK.

Role Purpose

Reporting to the Engineering Team Leader you will be responsible for the completion of maintenance tasks in a reliable and effective manner, to ensure efficient running of all aspects of the business. Develop performance improving equipment modifications and contribute to the completion of engineering projects. You will carry out your duties in accordance with the Health, Safety and Welfare of yourself and your colleagues. This is a hands-on role, where your experience in diagnostics and repair can make all the difference.

Principal Accountabilities

• Ensure that planned maintenance is delivered and applied to plant and equipment to achieve maximum equipment efficiency and minimise breakdowns.
• Working With Production, prioritise unplanned work to minimise impact on the production plan.
• Regularly review, in conjunction with Engineering team the process efficiency of plant and equipment to contribute to overall factory objectives, where necessary proposing new production methods.
• Assist with ordering spare parts required and maintain min/max levels to minimise both cost and downtime.
• Assist with identifying parts for projects.
• To have a good working relationship with Operational and Technical Teams to enable effective communication.
• Assist with managing subcontractors on site and where trained issue and monitor work permits.
• Monitor and record all downtime and spare parts used raise any issues to the Manager concerned.

Skills and Knowledge

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proactive, and highly motivated with the drive to succeed as part of a team whilst also working on their own initiative.

· Demonstrable experience of a multi-skilled Engineering environment.

· Multi-skilling within a food manufacturing environment is preferable but not essential. Essential is an ability to diagnose and repair/maintain manufacturing equipment and plant.

Training and Qualifications

• Electrical Engineering Qualification, preferably with an Electrical Engineering apprenticeship i.e. C&G / BTEC.
• Experience of 415v motor control, Star/Delta control, Variable Speed Drives, DC drives, 24v control, safety circuits, PLC diagnosis.
• Basic mechanical skills are necessary.

Hours of Work

• 40hrs per week Monday to Friday. 06:00-14:30 (M), 14:00 – 22:30 (A) 08:30 – 17:00 (D), Some flexibility on days hours by mutual agreement.
• On occasion there may be a need to attend outside of normal hours and cover the permanent Night shift engineer whilst on holiday.
