What they need
Tired of Doing the Same Thing Every Day?
Newport Industries, LLC | West Branch, Iowa
Pay: $27–$32 per hour | Full-Time | Multiple Openings
Are you bored doing the same thing every day?
Are you a welder, machinist, fabricator, or machine operator who knows there's more to manufacturing than doing the same job over and over?
Do you enjoy learning new equipment, figuring out better ways to do things, and challenging yourself?
Have you ever looked at another machine in your shop and thought, "I'd really like to learn how to run that"?
If so, we might have exactly the opportunity you're looking for.
At Newport Industries, we're a custom manufacturing company that does a little bit of everything.
CNC machining. Fiber laser cutting. Tube lasers. Press brakes. Welding. Robotic welding. Laser welding. 3D printing. Custom fabrication. And plenty of things in between.
We're looking for experienced manufacturing professionals who don't want to be limited to just one skill.
What makes this position different?
We're not looking for someone who wants to stand at the same machine doing the same thing for the next 20 years.
We're looking for someone who enjoys manufacturing, wants to understand how things work, and gets satisfaction from figuring things out.
Depending on your experience and our production needs, you could be:
- Operating and setting up CNC laser cutting equipment.
- Running CNC mills or lathes.
- Setting up and operating press brakes.
- Welding and fabricating custom assemblies.
- Learning laser welding or robotic welding.
- Developing fixtures and improving manufacturing processes.
- Troubleshooting equipment and production challenges.
- Learning equipment and processes outside your current specialty.
We don't expect you to know how to do everything.
We do expect you to want to learn.
Who we're looking for
We want someone who takes pride in being good at what they do.
Someone who doesn't need to be constantly reminded to stay productive. Someone who notices when something isn't right and wants to figure out why.
You'll likely be a great fit if you:
- Have hands-on experience in machining, welding, fabrication, laser cutting, or other manufacturing processes.
- Enjoy learning new skills and equipment.
- Have strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
- Take ownership of your work and care about quality.
- Can work independently once properly trained.
- Ask questions, retain information, and apply what you've learned.
- Look for ways to make processes better.
- Enjoy variety and new challenges.
- Want to continue growing professionally.
We're looking for people who want to get better at what they do, not just get through another workday.
Experience and qualifications
Prior experience in at least one manufacturing discipline is preferred, such as CNC machining, welding, fabrication, laser cutting, or press brake operation.
You don't need experience with every process we perform.
We're interested in people who have a solid foundation in manufacturing and want to expand their capabilities.
The ability to read drawings, use measuring tools, follow safety procedures, and maintain quality standards is important.
Where could this lead?
That depends on your abilities, initiative, and interests.
You could become a highly skilled multi-process technician, specialize in advanced equipment, take ownership of manufacturing projects, help train others, or potentially develop into a leadership position.
We believe opportunities should grow as your demonstrated capabilities and responsibilities grow.
Pay and schedule
$27–$32 per hour, based on relevant experience and demonstrated capabilities.
We offer full-time scheduling options:
- Four 10-hour shifts, Monday–Thursday.
- Five 8-hour shifts, Monday–Friday.
Schedule and start times are coordinated with production needs, training, and the ability to work independently.
How to apply
We're not interested in reading another generic cover letter about how you're a hardworking team player.
We want to know what makes you tick.
When you apply, tell us about something you've learned, built, fixed, or improved because you genuinely wanted to figure it out.
It could be something at work or something you've done on your own time.
We want to hear what gets you excited about learning and building things.
If you're ready to do more than the same thing every day, we'd like to talk.
