Multi Trader / Property Maintenance Engineer

Salary: £26,000 – £36,000 per year, depending on experience

Location: Farnham and surrounding areas – Surrey, Hampshire & Berkshire

Surrey & Hampshire Property Services are looking for an experienced and reliable Multi Trader / Property Maintenance Engineer to join our growing team.

We provide professional property maintenance, repair and refurbishment services across Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire, working predominantly with letting agents, property managers, landlords and residential clients.

This is a varied role and would suit someone who is confident working independently across a broad range of property maintenance tasks. No two days are the same – one day you may be carrying out plumbing repairs and making good, and the next completing carpentry, decorating or bathroom remedial works.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, communicates well with customers and can identify problems and find sensible solutions while on site.

The Role

Typical works will include:

• General reactive property maintenance and repairs
• Plumbing repairs, including taps, toilets, wastes, leaks and minor pipework
• Carpentry and joinery repairs
• Door, lock, handle and ironmongery repairs/replacement
• Kitchen repairs and minor installations
• Bathroom and shower repairs
• Silicone, grouting and general waterproofing repairs
• Plasterboard repairs and making good
• Minor plastering and filling
• Painting and decorating
• Flooring repairs and installation
• Skirting, architrave and trim installation
• Basic tiling
• Fencing and minor external works
• Guttering and general external maintenance
• Investigating leaks, damp and general property defects
• Completing maintenance reports and providing photographs of completed works

You do not need to be an expert in every trade. We are looking for someone with a strong general maintenance background who is particularly competent in several of the above areas and willing to tackle a varied workload.

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate should:

• Have previous experience as a Multi Trader, Maintenance Engineer, Property Maintenance Operative or similar
• Be competent in a range of building and maintenance trades
• Be able to work independently and manage jobs from start to finish
• Have good fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Produce a good standard of workmanship
• Be reliable, organised and punctual
• Be comfortable working in occupied and tenanted properties
• Communicate professionally with tenants, landlords, agents and customers
• Keep work areas clean and tidy
• Take clear before, during and after photographs of works
• Be able to use a smartphone for receiving jobs, photographs and job updates
• Hold a full UK driving licence

Additional plumbing, carpentry, decorating, electrical or other trade qualifications would be advantageous but are not essential where suitable experience can be demonstrated.

Salary & Benefits

£26,000 – £36,000 per year, depending on experience, skill level and the range of works you are able to undertake independently.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday – approximately 8:30am to 5:00pm

Occasional additional hours may be available where required.
