Multi‑Axis Swiss-Type Lathe Programming Technologist

Is this you?

  • Do you enjoy turning complex blueprints into efficient Swiss‑turn toolpaths?
  • Are Citizen and Star machines where you do your best work?
  • Do you like owning the process end‑to‑end—from CAM to setup to first‑article validation and beyond?
  • Do you take pride in teaching others and elevating a team?

About us

We are a family‑owned manufacturer with 60+ years of steady growth. You’ll join a supportive, collaborative culture that values craftsmanship and people. Expect teammates who help, leaders who listen, and a workplace designed for long‑term careers.

What you’ll do

  • Analyze drawings, models, work orders, material, and specs to select machining strategies and operation sequences.
  • Develop, prove out, edit, and optimize CNC programs for Citizen and Star Swiss‑type turn/mill platforms using CAD/CAM.
  • Set up and operate lathes: select tooling and workholding, set offsets, make program edits, and dial in the process.
  • Verify setups and first‑piece production using precision measurement against drawings and GD&T.
  • Author and maintain setup sheets, tooling info, approved programs, production records, and process‑control documentation with proper file and revision control.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machining, tooling, programming, and equipment issues; complete preventive maintenance; and drive continuous improvement.
  • Track tooling usage and production supplies; initiate requests for replenishment.
  • Train and mentor operators, setup personnel, department staff, and student interns.
  • Communicate clearly with peers and management about process changes, irregularities, corrective actions, and production concerns.
  • Maintain clean, orderly, and safe machines, tools, gages, and work areas.
  • Follow company policies and procedures including ISO, ITAR, CMMC, information security, and safety requirements.
  • Perform related duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational/technical/apprenticeship/machining training preferred.
  • Proficient with CAD/CAM; working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Comfortable reading prints and GD&T; strong knowledge of machining methods, tooling, workholding, speeds/feeds, inspection, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong math, mechanical aptitude, organization, communication, and time management.
  • Capable of independent work while contributing to team goals and mentoring others.

Experience

  • 5+ years on Citizen and Star Swiss‑type CNC lathes.
  • CAD/CAM programming experience is highly desirable.

Physical demands

Stand and move within the work area regularly; handle small parts and tools; lift/move up to 40 lbs; maintain visual acuity (with or without correction) to read technical information, operate controls, inspect small features, and discern fine dimensional or surface details.

Schedule, pay, and benefits

  • First‑shift operation only: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
  • Competitive hourly pay targeted between $42 and $50 based on experience.
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield medical & dental, 401(k) with employer match, tuition reimbursement, and medical/dependent care FSAs.

Career path

Demonstrate strong technical results, reliability, sound judgment, clear communication, and leadership potential, and you may be considered for advancement into a lead role—aligned with business needs and your performance.

Your toolbox

  • Core skills: CNC Programming; G‑Code; CNC Machine Setup & Changeover; Precision Measurement & Hand Metrology; Machine Setups for Production Runs
  • Machines & tech: CNC Swiss Lathe (Star, Citizen); CAM Software (Esprit); CNC Lathe (5+ axis); Calipers & Micrometers
