Multidisciplinary Design Manager – Data Centres Focus

WSP in the Middle East is seeking an experienced Design Manager – Data Centres to join our Property & Buildings team in Amman, Jordan.

The successful candidate will lead the multidisciplinary design and coordination of complex, large-scale data centre projects, bringing a strong Electrical or Mechanical Engineering background together with proven experience managing integrated MEP and wider building design disciplines.

This role will involve overseeing multiple projects simultaneously, managing design teams and stakeholders, ensuring technical excellence, and driving project delivery from concept through to detailed design and construction support stages.

Your New Role, What’s Involved?

• Lead and manage the multidisciplinary design process for major data centre projects from concept and feasibility through detailed design and construction coordination.
• Coordinate Electrical, Mechanical, Structural, Architectural, ICT, Security, Fire & Life Safety and other specialist disciplines to deliver fully integrated design solutions.
• Provide overall design leadership, ensuring technical interfaces between disciplines are effectively managed.
• Drive the delivery of resilient, reliable and high-performance data centre designs in line with project requirements and applicable standards.
• Lead design reviews, interdisciplinary coordination workshops and technical discussions with internal teams, clients and specialist consultants.
• Manage design programmes, deliverables, resources, risks, changes and technical approvals.
• Ensure designs achieve the required standards of quality, constructability, sustainability and operational performance.
• Act as a key interface with clients and project stakeholders throughout the design lifecycle.
• Support BIM-led multidisciplinary coordination and effective integration of design information.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and design team members.

We’d Love to Hear from You If You Have

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• Significant experience in multidisciplinary building design and design management, preferably within a major engineering or design consultancy.
• Strong, demonstrable experience delivering large-scale and technically complex Data Centre projects.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary design teams across MEP and associated building disciplines.
• Strong understanding of mission-critical infrastructure, including resilient electrical and mechanical systems.
• Good knowledge of data centre design principles and relevant international codes and standards.
• Strong experience managing design coordination, technical interfaces, design reviews and project deliverables.
• Experience with BIM and multidisciplinary digital design coordination.
• Excellent client-facing, stakeholder management, leadership and communication skills.
• Experience working in Jordan and/or the wider Middle East would be highly advantageous.
