Multidisciplinary Therapy Program Director

Roots Autism Solutions | Buffalo Grove, Vernon Hills & Lake in the Hills, IL

Salary: $75,000–$90,000 annually

Schedule: Full-time or part-time opportunities

Work Location: In person, across our three Northwest Suburban locations

About Roots Autism Solutions

Roots Autism Solutions is a multidisciplinary pediatric therapy provider dedicated to helping children with autism and related developmental needs reach their fullest potential.

Our approach is built around collaboration. Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Board Certified Behavior Analysts, and Behavior Therapists work together to provide individualized, coordinated care that supports the whole child.

Over the past several years, Roots has expanded beyond ABA therapy to offer in-house Speech and Occupational Therapy services. This expansion has been an exciting step forward for our organization, and we're looking for the right clinician to help take these programs to the next level.

About the Opportunity

We're seeking an experienced, motivated Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) or Occupational Therapist (OT) who is excited about an opportunity that extends beyond a traditional clinical role.

As our Multidisciplinary Therapy Program Director, you'll have the opportunity to provide direct clinical care while playing a meaningful role in the leadership, development, and growth of our Speech and Occupational Therapy programs across three established clinic locations.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys working directly with children but is equally passionate about mentoring clinicians, strengthening clinical systems, developing programming, and helping build a thriving multidisciplinary team.

You'll work closely with Roots' leadership team to identify opportunities for growth, improve the quality and consistency of services, and help shape the future of our Speech and OT departments.

We're looking for someone who wants to be both a clinician and a leader—and who is excited to help build something meaningful.

What You'll Do

Clinical Care

  • Provide engaging, evidence-based Speech-Language or Occupational Therapy services to children ages 2–11 in a clinic-based setting.
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans, and monitor client progress.
  • Collaborate with BCBAs, SLPs, OTs, and other members of the clinical team to provide coordinated, interdisciplinary care.
  • Partner with families to establish meaningful treatment goals and support the generalization of skills across environments.
  • Model high-quality, ethical, and individualized clinical practices.

Program Leadership & Development

  • Help lead the continued development and growth of Roots' Speech and Occupational Therapy programs across our three clinic locations.
  • Establish and refine clinical processes, documentation standards, programming, and systems that support consistent, high-quality services.
  • Identify opportunities to expand service availability, strengthen existing programs, and improve the overall experience for clients and families.
  • Partner with organizational leadership on strategic initiatives related to program growth, staffing, and clinical quality.
  • Support the integration of Speech and OT services into Roots' established multidisciplinary model.

Team Development & Collaboration

  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants, and Clinical Fellows, as appropriate to your credentials and applicable supervision requirements.
  • Help establish a collaborative and supportive culture that encourages professional development and clinical excellence.
  • Contribute to clinician onboarding, training, and the development of effective clinical systems.
  • Serve as a resource for clinicians across disciplines, encouraging collaboration and shared problem-solving.
  • Work alongside leadership to identify staffing needs and support the continued growth of the therapy team.

Who We're Looking For

Our ideal candidate is an experienced pediatric clinician who is ready to make an impact beyond their individual caseload.

You enjoy clinical work, but you're also motivated by the opportunity to develop programs, support other professionals, and help shape how services are delivered.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a degree in Occupational Therapy that meets applicable Illinois licensure requirements.
  • Current Illinois licensure as an SLP or OT, or eligibility to obtain licensure.
  • Experience providing therapy services to pediatric populations.
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills.
  • A collaborative approach to working with clinicians, families, and organizational leadership.
  • Interest in clinical leadership, program development, and mentoring other professionals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder or other developmental disabilities.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary or clinic-based pediatric therapy settings.
  • Previous involvement in clinical mentorship, supervision, staff development, or program leadership.
  • Experience developing or improving clinical processes and systems.
  • Interest in expanding access to Speech and Occupational Therapy services.

Previous leadership experience is valued, but not required. We're equally interested in an experienced clinician who has demonstrated initiative, strong clinical skills, and the desire to take the next step in their career.

Why Roots?

At Roots, you won't be stepping into a large, established department where every aspect of your role has already been defined.

Instead, you'll have the opportunity to help shape what our Speech and Occupational Therapy programs become.

You'll join an established pediatric therapy organization with an experienced interdisciplinary team, existing clinical infrastructure, and a leadership group that values collaboration and new ideas.

We want this position to be more than simply managing a caseload. We want someone who can help us build strong programs, develop talented clinicians, and expand the services we offer to children and families.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of meaningful initiatives, see the impact of your ideas, and grow professionally as our programs continue to develop.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary: $75,000–$90,000 annually
  • Full-time and part-time opportunities
  • Flexible scheduling to support work-life balance
  • Opportunities for leadership and professional advancement
  • Supportive, collaborative interdisciplinary environment
  • Professional development and continuing education opportunities
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with employer matching
  • A positive, inclusive workplace where your ideas and expertise are valued
