What they need
Hands-on AI Lessons for Kids
Remote | Part-time freelance
Fundisa AB, the company behind 1on1Math, is a small education business expanding from maths tutoring into hands-on AI learning for children and teens. We are developing lessons for live online classes and partner-led programmes in South Africa. The aim is for learners to create, test and improve things—not just watch AI demonstrations.
The role
You turn ideas into clear, engaging experiences. We are looking for a multimedia or UI/UX designer who already uses AI to build things and wants to apply that skill to learning. You will own the lesson flow, visuals and interactive materials; a Fundisa educator will review learning goals, accuracy and age-appropriateness.
What you will create
- Design the learner journey: an engaging opening, clear steps, meaningful choices, a practical build, testing and reflection. Engagement matters more than adding points or badges.
- Build editable student materials and simple interactive activities, such as an AI-assisted story, quiz prototype or creative challenge. Learners should make decisions and improve a result themselves.
- Create the teacher and coach pack: a timed lesson plan, setup checklist, model example, common problems, support and extension options, and a short walkthrough.
- Review real learner use with our teaching team, fix confusing steps and capture a simple learning check and examples of progress. Hand over organised, editable files that teachers can reuse.
Your first project
Your first project is one 45–60-minute beginner lesson for ages 13–15 in one agreed teaching setting. Agree the concept and tools first, then build, support a learner pilot and revise. Success means a teacher who did not design it can deliver it, and learners can explain what they created, tested and improved. This is not a full curriculum in month one.
What we are looking for
- A portfolio showing clear visual communication and thoughtful user flow, including at least one interactive experience, learning activity or working prototype—not only static graphics.
- Practical AI use: you can show something you made, explain your contribution and spot or correct weak output.
- Clear written and spoken English, simple instructions, reliable estimates and a willingness to test and improve your work.
Teaching experience is helpful, not essential. Self-taught and early-career designers with strong work are welcome; no particular degree is required. Canva, Figma, Google Slides and simple no-code builders are examples, not a mandatory tool list. You do not need to be an AI engineer.
How we will work
Payment per hour, depending on relevant work. Initial four-week paid pilot, around 5–10 hours per week, capped at 40 hours. Ongoing part-time work may follow if the pilot succeeds and budget is available.
Remote freelance contract; Philippines-based applicants are especially welcome. Mostly flexible hours, with a weekly check-in and teacher sessions agreed in advance. Meetings, agreed research, testing and revisions are paid. Extra hours or spending require approval.
Fundisa provides an educator for learning review, arranges and supervises learner pilots, and provides agreed paid software access. We agree the brief, rate, weekly cap and payment schedule before starting.
This is a learning-design and production role, not social-media design, business automation or full-platform development.
Responsible design
Use age- and setting-approved tools, protect learner privacy and identify asset licences and running costs. Include a fallback for limited devices, connectivity or tool failure. Fundisa handles safeguarding and permissions; no private learner contact or uploading learner personal data to AI tools.
How to apply
Apply through the job platform or reply to the person who shared this description. We are recruiting one person through related design and learning roles; please apply only once.
- Two relevant work samples, including an interactive example. Explain what you personally designed or built; personal projects count.
- A short example of using AI: what failed or needed checking, and what you changed.
- Your hourly rate in USD, weekly availability, earliest start and possible call times in Philippine Time (UTC+8).
Shortlisted applicants have a brief portfolio conversation. Finalists are invited to a paid work sample: up to three hours, with the brief and terms agreed first. AI use is welcome; explain your contribution and checks. No unpaid custom lesson or full course is required.
Pay: Php10,000.00 - Php20,000.00 per month
