Join a global technology and R&D organisation developing advanced infrastructure across AI, cloud computing and distributed data systems. As a Multimodal Data Engine Expert, you will help build next-generation data infrastructure for LLMs, multimodal AI and AI Agents, working across distributed systems, heterogeneous computing, vector technologies and AI4DB.

The Multimodal Data Engine Expert will have the opportunity to solve complex, large-scale engineering challenges while shaping the architecture of future intelligent data platforms. This is an exciting opportunity for a Multimodal Data Engine Expert to work at the intersection of high-performance computing, databases and frontier AI.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop large-scale multimodal data processing and computing platforms.
• Build resource scheduling and pooling across CPU, GPU and NPU environments.
• Develop high-performance query optimisers, execution engines and retrieval systems for multimodal workloads.
• Design vector indexing, storage, metadata and retrieval capabilities.
• Develop distributed caching and near-compute data services to improve platform performance.
• Build AI-powered Data Agents and AI4DB solutions for intelligent data management and automation.

Required Experience & Skills

Essential

• Strong R&D background in database systems, distributed systems, big data or HPC.
• Strong programming skills in C, C++, Python and/or Java.
• Experience developing core systems such as query optimisers, execution engines, storage engines, distributed storage or indexing systems.
• Understanding of CPU, GPU and/or NPU architectures, performance and heterogeneous resource scheduling.
• Experience with cloud platforms, distributed infrastructure and DevOps.

Desirable

• Experience with vector databases, vector search or multimodal data systems.
• Background in AI4DB, LLM infrastructure, AI Agents or multimodal AI.
• Experience with LLM fine-tuning, reinforcement learning, NLP, computer vision, video or time-series processing.
• Research, patents or open-source contributions in databases, distributed systems, HPC or AI infrastructure.

We are looking for a Principal/Staff Engineer, Distributed Systems Engineer, Database Engineer, Database Researcher, HPC Engineer or Systems Researcher with deep experience building the infrastructure behind large-scale data platforms.

Strong candidates may come from cloud providers, database/data-platform companies, semiconductor organisations, AI infrastructure teams or leading research groups. Deep systems expertise is more important than being a pure ML/AI profile.
