Position Summary
The World Wildlife Heritage Museum is seeking a highly experienced Museum Technology & Facilities Systems Engineer to serve as the primary technical resource for the Museum's broad range of technology, building-control, security, AV, electrical-support, and facilities-related systems.
This position is intended for an unusually versatile individual who can independently operate, troubleshoot, diagnose, and, where appropriate and legally permissible, perform repairs across multiple technical disciplines. The goal is to resolve as many routine and intermediate issues as practical in-house while using Seeno Companies IT and specialized or licensed vendors for advanced, regulated, or manufacturer-specific work.
Because the Museum incorporates systems installed and maintained by many different trades and vendors, the successful candidate should have practical working knowledge across a wide variety of disciplines and be comfortable determining where a problem originates and what resource is needed to resolve it.
Duties
- Operate and troubleshoot audio / video and control systems.
- Support Information Technology and Network Systems
- Operate and troubleshoot access control, surveillance and intrusion systems.
- Operate and troubleshoot gate and vehicle access systems.
- Operate and troubleshoot HVAC and temperature-control systems.
- Understand and troubleshoot electrical, UPS and backup power systems.
- Understand generator systems.
- Monitor rooftop solar power systems.
- Support interactive exhibit, lighting and museum technology.
- Prepare and test event and presentation systems such as microphones, speakers, displays, etc.
- Manage vendors and project coordinator.
- Work with AV integrators, Crestron programmers, Q-SYS specialists, network engineers, security vendors, gate contractors, HVAC contractors, generator service providers, solar contractors, low-voltage contractors, exhibit vendors, and video-production professionals.
- Documentation and Preventative Maintenance.
The successful candidate should be capable of troubleshooting across AV, IT, networking, security, access control, gates, HVAC controls, electrical-support systems, generators, solar, lighting controls, and exhibit technology. The expectation is to identify the source of a problem, perform repairs within the candidate's training and authorized scope, replace components where appropriate, and determine when a licensed, certified, or specialized contractor is required.
· Use a methodical process to determine whether failures involve power, hardware, software, programming, networking, cabling, communications, sensors, controls, or mechanical systems.
· Resolve routine and intermediate problems independently whenever practical.
· Document recurring problems, changes, and repairs.
· Escalate advanced issues to Seeno Companies IT or the appropriate specialist without unnecessary delay.
Skills
· Broad hands-on technical experience across multiple technology and building-system disciplines.
· Strong mechanical, electrical, computer, and troubleshooting aptitude.
· Excellent customer service and professional communication skills.
· Ability to remain composed under pressure, particularly during live events or executive/VIP presentations.
· Professional appearance and demeanor appropriate for a public-facing Museum environment.
· Excellent common sense, judgment, organization, dependability, and follow-through.
· Ability to work independently while recognizing when to involve Seeno Companies IT or a specialized vendor.
· Understanding of safety requirements and the limits of work that must be performed by licensed or manufacturer-certified personnel.
Technical Experience
· Q-SYS, Crestron, Dante, NovaStar, professional audio, commercial video, digital signage, AV-over-IP, and event technology.
· Cisco Meraki or comparable enterprise networking.
· Axis cameras, Avigilon access control, intrusion systems, and intercoms.
· LiftMaster or similar commercial gate operators and gate safety devices.
· Commercial HVAC controls, thermostats, zone controls, and building automation.
· Generator systems, automatic transfer switches, UPS systems, and backup-power monitoring.
· Rooftop solar systems, inverters, and solar monitoring platforms.
· DMX, nLight, Crestron lighting integration, and other lighting-control systems.
· Museum exhibits, media players, interactive displays, or other experiential technology.
This is a full-time, exempt, on-site position. The normal schedule will generally follow regular business hours; however, evening, weekend, early-morning, or after-hours support may occasionally be required for Museum events, maintenance, system failures, or emergencies.
