  • Peptide and protein delivery
  • mRNA and nucleic-acid delivery
  • Vaccine delivery systems
  • Controlled-release formulations
  • Targeted drug delivery
  • Encapsulation of active pharmaceutical ingredients
  • Nanoparticle surface modification
  • Biocompatible delivery systems
  • Translational nanotechnology

Responsibilities

Depending on the candidate's expertise and the needs of the research program, responsibilities may include:

  • Design and optimize nanoparticle formulations.
  • Develop experimental strategies for encapsulating pharmaceutical or biological cargo.
  • Evaluate nanoparticle size, morphology, surface characteristics, stability, and physicochemical properties.
  • Investigate encapsulation efficiency and drug-loading capacity.
  • Study formulation stability and degradation.
  • Evaluate controlled-release and release-kinetic characteristics.
  • Assist in developing reproducible formulation protocols.
  • Analyze formulation-performance relationships.
  • Troubleshoot formulation and manufacturing challenges.
  • Review scientific literature and identify emerging nanoparticle technologies.
  • Contribute to experimental design and interpretation of results.
  • Prepare technical reports, research summaries, and scientific documentation.
  • Collaborate with other scientists and research personnel.
  • Contribute to scientific presentations, publications, intellectual-property development, and research proposals where appropriate.
  • Help translate laboratory findings into potential therapeutic applications.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in nanoparticle formulation and nanomedicine, preferably through doctoral research, postdoctoral research, publications, or industry experience.

Particularly valuable experience includes:

  • Polymeric nanoparticle formulation
  • PLGA nanoparticle systems
  • Lipid nanoparticle formulation

  • Cell-based evaluation of delivery systems
  • Protein, peptide, mRNA, or nucleic-acid delivery

Experience with formulation optimization and quantitative analysis is particularly desirable.

Core Scientific Objectives

The position will focus on addressing key challenges in therapeutic nanoparticle development, including:

1. Encapsulation EfficiencyDeveloping formulations capable of efficiently incorporating active pharmaceutical ingredients or biological cargo.

2. StabilityImproving physical and chemical stability of nanoparticle formulations during storage and under physiological conditions.

3. BioavailabilityDeveloping delivery systems capable of improving the availability of therapeutic compounds within biological systems.

4. Controlled ReleaseEngineering formulations capable of producing predictable and controllable release kinetics.

5. Targeted DeliveryInvestigating strategies for directing therapeutic cargo toward specific biological targets or tissues.

6. Translational PotentialHelping identify formulations with characteristics appropriate for advancement toward preclinical development.

Work Environment

This is an early-stage biotechnology environment, meaning the successful candidate should be comfortable working with substantial independence and ambiguity.

The scientist will have an opportunity to work closely with company leadership and contribute to research programs at an early stage of development.

Depending on the research activity, work may involve:

  • Literature research
  • Computational analysis
  • Experimental design
  • Formulation development
  • Data analysis
  • Scientific writing
  • Research planning
  • Collaboration with external laboratories or research institutions

Certain laboratory activities may require access to appropriate laboratory facilities and cannot necessarily be performed remotely.

There is currently no salary, hourly compensation, stipend, benefits package, or guaranteed financial compensation associated with this position.

The position is structured as a voluntary research opportunity for a qualified scientist who is interested in contributing to an early-stage biotechnology venture.

Candidates should carefully consider this structure before applying.
