WE WILL TRAIN THE RIGHT PERSON

Are you on Nantucket year-round and want work you can count on beyond the busy season? Wayne Alarm Systems is looking for a dependable, motivated person to join our team as a Low-Voltage Apprentice Technician. This is a full-time, year-round opportunity to learn a skilled trade while helping protect homes and businesses on the island.

You do not need alarm, electrical, or technical experience. Whether you have worked as a taxi driver, bartender, gardener, landscaper, in hospitality, retail, construction, or another industry—or are just starting your career—we want to hear from you. Bring a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn. We will train the right person.

What You’ll Learn and Do

  • You will work alongside experienced technicians and learn these skills on the job. You are not expected to know how to do them before applying:
  • Assist with installing, maintaining, and repairing security, fire alarm, camera, and access control systems.
  • Learn to pull, route, and connect low-voltage wiring.
  • Learn to install and set up devices such as sensors, detectors, alarm panels, cameras, and communicators.
  • Help experienced technicians test systems, troubleshoot issues, and identify solutions.
  • Learn safe work practices, company standards, and applicable installation requirements.
  • Help maintain tools, equipment, and work vehicle readiness.

What We’re Looking For

  • Willing to learn. You ask questions, take direction, and are interested in building a long-term career.
  • Dependable. You show up on time, follow through, and can be counted on year-round.
  • Hands-on mindset. You enjoy practical work and solving problems. Experience using tools is helpful, but not required—we will teach you.
  • Customer-focused. You communicate respectfully and take pride in helping others.
  • Safety-conscious. You follow instructions and take care of yourself, your teammates, and our customers.
  • A team player. You work well with others and are willing to pitch in.

Year-Round Work on Nantucket

This is a full-time, on-site position based on Nantucket, with steady work throughout the year—not a seasonal opening. Applicants must be able to work on the island year-round. Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential. Specific schedule details will be discussed during the hiring process.

Qualifications

  • No prior low-voltage, alarm industry, electrical, or trade experience required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Good communication skills and a willingness to learn to use tools and equipment safely.
  • Ability to perform hands-on installation work, including lifting and carrying equipment, climbing ladders, kneeling, crouching, and working in tight spaces, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Experience in any industry is welcome. Construction, landscaping, maintenance, hospitality, driving, or customer service experience may be useful, but is not required.

Training, Growth, and Support

WE WILL TRAIN THE RIGHT PERSON. You will receive hands-on instruction, guidance from experienced technicians, and ongoing support as you build confidence. Learn a trade, develop valuable skills, and work toward becoming a licensed technician as you meet the applicable education, experience, and licensing requirements. Your willingness to learn matters more than your résumé.

How We Work at Wayne Alarm

  • Put customers and life safety first.
  • Do the right thing, even when no one is watching.
  • Take responsibility, follow through, and speak up when help is needed.
  • Treat customers and coworkers professionally.
  • Follow established processes and contribute ideas that make the work better.
