Narrative Designer

HIRING: NARRATIVE DESIGNER

Ribat Studios is hiring a Narrative Designer (contract, remote-friendly).

We're a small independent studio in Rabat, Morocco, making Kasbah: a first-person mystery-exploration game set in a fortified desert city built into a gorge, drawn from Moroccan and Maghrebi architecture and folklore. Unreal Engine 5, PC/Steam. No combat. You progress by understanding the place.

We're now building the vertical slice. Narrative is the piece that needs an owner.

What you'll do

• Own the narrative spine: pitch options, lock one with me, then hold it while the team builds on it
• Turn it into docs the team can actually use: story bible, characters, world logic, quest structure
• Write the vertical slice: a location puzzle, a character encounter, and the environmental storytelling around them
• Work directly with our game designer and programmer so story beats land in the build.

What we're looking for

• At least one shipped or publicly playable game where you owned narrative design.
• You design story around systems: knowledge-gated progression, environmental storytelling, mystery structure.
• We communicate in English.
• You estimate your own work and hit the date.

The engagement

Fixed-term services contract, scoped through the vertical slice with extension likely. Remote works with a few hours' overlap with Morocco (UTC+1).
