You will support whānau through change, walking alongside them with aroha, resilience, and manaakitanga.

About Us

Manukau Urban Māori Authority (MUMA) is a progressive, dynamic community organisation that is driven by our vision, mission, and values, as we strive to advance urban Māori aspirations, whilst being Kaupapa Māori driven, and Marae-based, whilst embracing Te Reo me ōna Tikanga practices. The 'Kaupapa' that we all embrace here at MUMA is 'WHANAU FIRST', as ‘Our Whanau are our Future’.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with whānau to identify their strengths, needs, and long-term aspirations

  • Co-develop personalised plans that support whānau goals

  • Help whānau navigate systems such as health, housing, education, and income support

  • Advocate for whānau and connect them to wider services and opportunities

  • Record progress, reflect on outcomes, and adapt practice to improve impact

  • Collaborate with service providers, agencies, and community networks

  • Support community and emergency responses when required

About You

You will bring:

  • Experience working directly with whānau and diverse communities

  • A relationship-first approach grounded in tikanga Māori and kaupapa Māori values

  • Ability to work with empathy, flexibility, and a strengths-based mindset

  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills

  • A full NZ driver’s licence

  • Relevant qualifications or experience in community, health, education, or social support, or willingness to undertake further study

What We Offer

  • A rewarding and impactful role supporting whānau in your community

  • A kaupapa Māori work environment that supports professional growth

  • Regular supervision, peer support, and training opportunities

  • Full-time employment aligned to secured programme funding

  • Flexible and supportive workplace culture
