Join a Team That Makes a Genuine Difference

At You Connect Australia, we empower people living with disability and psychosocial challenges to achieve their goals, maximise independence, and live meaningful lives in their communities.

We are seeking experienced, compassionate, and values-driven Complex Mental Health Support Workers to join our growing team in Helensvale. This role presents an exciting opportunity to support individuals living with complex mental health conditions and psychosocial disabilities through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

As a team member, you will deliver high-quality, person-centred supports that promote recovery, wellbeing, dignity, choice, and independence while contributing to positive outcomes for participants and their families.

About the Role

As a Complex Mental Health Support Worker, you will provide specialised support to participants with a range of complex mental health presentations, including psychosocial disabilities, trauma-related conditions, emotional regulation challenges, and complex behavioural support needs.

In a multidisciplinary, collaborative environment, you will support participants to build capacity, achieve their NDIS goals, strengthen community connections, and develop the skills needed to live fulfilling, self-directed lives.

This position requires professionals who can operate with empathy, professionalism, resilience, sound judgement, and a strong commitment to participant safety and wellbeing.

To ensure continuity of care and build meaningful relationships, we are seeking team members available to work a consistent roster, including day, evening, weekend, overnight active, and sleepover shifts. Set-line opportunities will be available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, person-centred supports aligned with participant goals, support plans, and NDIS requirements.
  • Provide trauma-informed, recovery-oriented support that promotes independence and enhances quality of life.
  • Assist participants with daily living activities, community engagement, social participation, and skill development.
  • Support participants to develop coping strategies, emotional regulation, resilience, and self-advocacy skills.
  • Monitor participant wellbeing and respond proactively to changes in mental health, behaviour, or support needs.
  • Contribute effectively during crisis situations and implement appropriate escalation and risk management processes.
  • Maintain accurate, objective, and timely documentation, including progress notes, incident reports, and risk observations.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with participants, families, carers, allied health professionals, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and review of individual support strategies and goals.
  • Uphold all organisational policies, NDIS Practice Standards, Code of Conduct requirements, safeguarding obligations, and duty of care responsibilities.
  • Attend supervision, team meetings, mandatory training, and professional development activities.

Essential Requirements

To be successful in this position, you will demonstrate:

  • Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services, Mental Health, or a related discipline.

  • A minimum of two years' experience supporting individuals with complex mental health conditions and psychosocial disabilities.

  • A strong understanding of person-centred practice, trauma-informed care, and recovery-oriented approaches.

  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.

  • Current Queensland Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or willingness to obtain.

  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification.

  • Current Australian Driver Licence and access to a reliable, insured vehicle.

  • NDIS mandatory modules
