NETA Field Technician

Join our dynamic team as a NETA (National Electrical Testing Association) Field Technician and become a vital part of ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of high-voltage electrical systems in the energy and utilities sector. In this role, you will perform comprehensive testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting on electrical infrastructure, including power distribution systems, transformers, overhead line systems, and high-voltage equipment. Your expertise will help maintain the integrity of critical utility operations while adhering to rigorous safety standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors on construction sites and power line projects, utilizing your technical skills to support essential energy infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Conduct electrical diagnostics and testing on high-voltage electrical systems, including relay testing, insulation resistance measurements, and electrical field testing.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on utility electrical systems such as transformers, cabling, and power distribution equipment.
• Operate bucket trucks and other specialized equipment safely to access overhead line systems and high-voltage components.
• Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to guide installation, maintenance, or repair activities.
• Implement safety procedures for high-voltage work, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), climbing techniques, and adherence to electrical safety protocols.
• Assist with power line construction projects by installing wiring, conducting high-voltage electrical wiring tasks, and performing cable splicing or termination.
• Perform outdoor work including tree trimming near utility lines while maintaining safety standards for high-voltage environments.
• Document all testing results, maintenance activities, and safety inspections accurately in logs and reports for compliance purposes.

Skills

• Proven experience in industrial or commercial electrician work with a strong understanding of electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting techniques.
• Skilled in rigging, welding, climbing, and operating bucket trucks or bucket lifts safely in outdoor environments.
• Knowledge of high-voltage electrical wiring systems, relay testing procedures, and electrical blueprint reading.
• Familiarity with electrical safety procedures specific to utility work environments including PPE use and high-voltage safety protocols.
• Experience working with power line construction projects involving overhead line systems and underground cabling.
• Ability to perform electrical field testing using tools such as voltmeters, ohmmeters (ohmmeters), multimeters, and other diagnostic instruments.
• Strong understanding of low voltage systems as well as high voltage applications within energy infrastructure.
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions with experience in outdoor work environments like construction sites or utility corridors.
• Knowledge of IT infrastructure related to utility control systems is a plus but not required.

Pay: $55.00 - $75.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 60.0 per week
